my driver side sony door speaker sound drops out sometimes like if i hit a bump or sometimes it drops and comes back on when i hit a bump.sometimes it does it all on its own. the wierd thing is if i press the cone it immediately comes back on.my wiring to the speaker is nice and tight, and i thought perhaps one of the wires (2 little strands on back of cone) from the voice coil to the woofer cone had broke. but it looks intact.as does the surround and cone. is this correctable or do i need new speakers.

Factory or aftermarket? It definitely sounds like one of the tinsel leads is bad, probably part that attatches directly to the voicecoil.I'd say replacement is the best way to go..

Thinking you have separated the VC from it's housing. I have seen it happen that way before. Press on the cone and it plays, gently lift the cone (move it out) and the VC comes with it!!You'll probably have to replace it, but it was a clean break.

I had the same problem with one of my old subs in my last car. Really nice Kicker Comp 12" and that lead went bad, replacement was the way to go.
