floor mat has a hole in it

Is it normal for the driver's side floor mat (not the carpet itself but he standard Vibe mat) to wear so quickly? The mat's carpeting is worn down to the rubber right under the gas pedal in an area that's about the size of a quarter. I guess it's caused by the heel of my shoe but I have less than 11,000KM's on the car. Has anyone else experienced this?

This has happened in every car I've ever owned. I switchd to the rubber floor mats, though, and they hold up to just about anything.

I've never had this problem, but then I really don't drive very much since I walk most places.

Unfortunately, that's pretty common, had it happen to me on other cars. The carpet on the floor mat does wear off over time... My mats are ok for the time being, but then again I've had floor mats on top of the original floor mats from the beginning.

It's a result of toe/heel driving. I've seen some metal plates that go right where your heel goes to protect the carpet. I've seen them at random auto parts stores, but can never find them when i'm looking.I've already worn through the stock floormat..

Does someone drive in high heels? If the hole is the size of a quarter, that could be the cause.
