We have all had one "bad" experience crossing the border but compared to the rest of the world.....they are under alot of pressure since 9/11 besides they probably thought she did alot of shopping in Canada! Your dollar is stronger here...They should have paid for her damages though... ok lets go back on topic!May the troops all be safe and once again good job!

I don't remember. It was her parents' car. I think they ended up just turning it in to insurance. But they had some money, so they may have just fixed it out of pocket. Still, this is bogus, especially since there was no cause for the search and it could have been done outside the garage.

there was a case about a month or 2 ago about a guy coming back from Canada into Alaska. bringing supplies to build his house. he had a little dog in the truck with him and one of the search dogs, a german shepherd, got in the cab and was bitten. so, the officers got mad and searched his truck. tore it apart and all his lumber, kits and everything was ruined! was just complete BS and a powertrip for those peon workers! and get this: the dog had been bitten by a german shepherd just 2 months prior to the incident, had stitches because it almost died! good for the little dog protecting itself!

I reread this thead, and am actually compelled to make a comment, and hope that it doesn't start things up again, but I gotta say it This is world politics, it is intensely complex. We all have our own unique sources of information, some that may not be available to others, and it is also often very difficult to determine exactly what is "fact" or what is "true" There is no "right" way to think. These absolutes are very evasive. I have a hard time reading some of the posts in this thread when people present their opinions as fact, and do not acknowledge that they are opinions, or that it is valid for other people to hold opposing opinions. Just because someone disagrees with you, it does not mean that they are wrong, it means that you think they are wrong. That may be a subtle difference, but it is a very important difference, and acknowledging that difference is fundamentaly important to being able to respect others.

Nice try, joatmon, but the ambiguity in that one was pretty thinly disguised. I think anyone with at least one functioning eye and a working knowledge of the English language knows exactly who that was directed towards.And no, you won't start me back up, at least. I've said about all I have to say that is pertinant to the issues presented so far. I will just say that on the converse side of your statement, some people have a tendancy to dismiss truth and facts and attempt to downplay them in an effort to discredit them or spin them to suit their needs. This is done when the factual evidence is not supporting a conviction that they want to believe and won't give up on. They have to take information and "spin" it to make it fit. In the vast majority of instances, there IS a right and wrong and we owe it to ourselves to find the truth and make sure that it is represented properly. Throwing relativism into the mix never makes any truth come out. Instead of separating things into right and wrong, it just expands the gray area until no absolute conclusion to absolute problems can be reached. I think I've made my point and I'll happily leave it at that. We've moved on from politics to philosophy, and I can play either game, as the two are hopelessly intertwined.

It's looking like he will eventually be turned over to the newly-formed Iraqi Tribunal for trial. Whatever they choose to do with him will surely be worse than what we'd do to him. We'd probabaly put him up in a 4 star maximum security prison for the rest of his life. They're gonna make him suffer like he caused the Iraqis to suffer.

Yeah, I don't know if this was mentioned earlier in the post because I don't have enough time to read all 6 pages, but, you've probably heard that now, since we've got Suddam, France and Germany want to take part in the reform of Iraq...I think they should go screw themselves. We paid for this war and our troops suffered such hardship over there, the French and Germans definately don't deserve to get a piece of it.This reminds me of a story I was read as a little kid. i don't remember what it was called but it was about how one kid did all the work while the others sat there and did nothing. The kids that did nothing, expected the hard working one to give them what he had received as a reward, but he refused since they didn't work and they all were upset and depressed.

Funny you posted the Snickers funny. When they were showing the small "living quarters" next to the hole Saddam was found in, they were showing some of his supplies. In the food rations, I saw a couple of Mars chocolate candy bars. That made me laugh, can you just see Saddam asking some crazed supporter to get him some Mars bars? > "Abdul, while you are out, could you pick me up a few more of those Mars candy bars, please?
