Yay, I finally have some decent storage capacity with this thing. 40 GB just wasn't cuttin' it. LOL!Up until now, I've mainly been relying on my Linux box for NFS so I can stash stuff there, but I filled up both drives in that thing. The mini's poor overworked, not-so-quick laptop HD is sitting here now with less than 3 GB free. So, when we were at the Apple store, Kari found this on the shelf... Cool, 160 GB, matches the mini perfectly, lets me expand the computer's storage capacity without breaking out the putty knife again and cracking the case open. I'll take it. It was $139 at the Apple store, I didn't think that was that bad of a deal, I had been looking at ministacks online for this purpose. I recalled the 160 GB version being the same price... I wouldn't gain much really, since I already had a USB hub for the mini so the extra ports weren't that useful. So, the LaCie drive it was! This sucker is fast! Really super quiet as well. And looks good, as you can see in my tower of mini-ness. The only bummer was my firewire cable for the iPod died right when I hooked this thing up so I don't know if the extra firewire port on the back is going to work with it. Don't know why, but all it does now is charge the thing. I even tried going back to like it was prior to hooking this thing up, with the firewire cable for the iPod plugged directly into the mini and it still doesn't work. Must have been a coinkydink that the cable died just like that. Rats.
