Ah, thanks for all the replies guys, very helpful. The advice about not getting a new car right out of college seems perfectly reasonable, though I should be able to get 0% with a cosign (father). So what will I do? I still don't know! Today I found a 1999 VW GTI for $10k. It has 40k miles, leather, ...

Re: so, say i can't afford a vibe. any recommendations in the 7,000 -10,000 range? (Herb)

I have found a couple used P5s on autotrader for about $14,000 fairly loaded with under 10,000 miles. I might test drive one or two. Anyone drive one of these? Does it feel like a vibe? I just loved the vibe i test drove.I also have seen some 2000 vw golfs with ~ 30,000 miles for around 10,000 - 12,...

You didn't have to pay for three months because you just graduated? Or was that a seperate offer?

graduating from college. toyota gives $400 to college grads & deferred payments. GM does something similar, but I am not sure if i can use that along with GMS pricing, i don't think I can.I might end up with a basic, basic vibe, but i *really* want moon & tunes and the power package

For my needs, the vibe is perfect. Many of the miles will be commuting and general-purpose driving, but I also have the tendency to haul around large objects, for which I love the hatchback/stationwagon-ness of the vibe.I have $0 dollars for a down payment. I will be getting a job and income soon, b...

I've been talking a lot about getting a vibe. Today I test drove one and absolutely loved it. However, it might make a lot more financial sense for me to buy used.If the vibe did not exist and you could pick one car for under 10 grand, what would it be?Or, why is the vibe a better option than used, ...

Re: GT vs Base (latina_qt)

I was the one who posted about my Buick engine. As said, it was a crappy old buick engine. In 1989, a 4 cylinder american engine could not reasonably push a large sedan. I actually drove the vibe base today, and it was far more peppy than that buick ever was, it didn't seem like the engine was overw...

Re: Vibe vs ION (viberator80)

Doesn't the center-mounted gauges cause parallax-related problems? We all know what the passenger sees and what the driver sees on the speedometer on normal cars are completely different. To which way would the Err be in the US config (driving on the right side). Slow or fast? I can't think tonight

Re: Anyone get there Vibe w/a GM Employee discount? Also, what is the loyalty rebate? (Vibe Rater)

Oh I'm definitely buying. Leasing is a good option for some, but not for me. I'm likely to still be driving this Vibe in 2013. 2013, wow I feel like we're living in science fiction. My dad swears by leasing. If I'm going to pay the depreciation at the time when cars depreciate the most, I'd rather ev...

Re: Anyone get there Vibe w/a GM Employee discount? Also, what is the loyalty rebate? (abronco1)

So simply having a GM product gets me that discount? Do i have to prove something other than pointing at my car?I'm not sure what color yet. They have an Envy at the dealer that I like, but I don't want the attention of an offbeat color car. I'll probably do moon & tunes and monotone...i'm still...

Anyone get there Vibe w/a GM Employee discount? Also, what is the loyalty rebate?

The subject pretty much sums it up.My Pops works for GM, so I am eligible for the discount. To anyone who may have received it: what is the process? do dealers like to deal with you if you are getting a discount? Any little details relating to the process are greatly appreciated. The second part, wha...

How is the vibe for tall drivers? Seat Comfort?

Apparently Pontiac won me over. Today I went to a dealership and sat in a Toyota '03 Corolla S, a Pontiac Aztek, a Pontiac Vibe & the Matrix.I like the Vibe and Matrix equally (makes sense, eh?) but will go with the vibe for price reasons, if I choose one of those two.I am 6'2" and I have k...
