Volume Knobs and loose Aux Port

Thought I'd share what I did yesterday. Both knobs on the stereo were broken so I modeled one and 3D printed replacements. I've attached the solidworks and stl file in case anyone else wants them. I removed the flange so they can be inserted from the front. I did end up having to drill out the shaft...

Re: lost power steering will driving, car won't start now

I realize that the bus bar fuses vertically aligned are designed to be visible through the clear plastic top. I see six of them and all six appear to be just fine. Best guess now is a bad alternator.

Re: lost power steering will driving, car won't start now

Just realized that might be helpful to know... After trickle-charging it all night I read 12.2V when the car is off. When the car starts it's at 12.4V. I guess that means the alternator isn't delivering power anymore. I've read about a large alternator fuse in the forums but my fuse compartment look...

lost power steering will driving, car won't start now

Was driving my 2009 vibe (~120k miles or so) when the battery light came on. A tried to make it home and got pretty far but eventually lost my power steering. I replaced the fairly new battery with a brand new one and had the same problem the next day. I've trickle charged the battery and want to ex...

Air filters for 2009 vibe?

I can't find the maintenance manual and I know I'm long overdue to replace the air filter. In this location: http://www.carid.com/2009-pontiac-vibe-air-filters/ it shows a variety of different looking air filters. The top one appears to match the shape of the enclosure I see when I lift the hood. Is...

Power Steering Groans on my 2009 Vibe

When I turn the wheel especially at low speeds like when I'm parking, I hear straining from the power steering that makes me thing I need to refill the steering fluid. Turns out the 2009 model uses electronic steering.

So, what does one do in this case?

Re: DIY Car Rack (onespeedgreg)

When there's nothing up there except the rack, I can hear a low rumble when I get to 80mph. I don't notice it after a minute or two, it's not very noticeable. When I travel at the same speed with it loaded as shown in the picture, I don't hear anything at all.

I screwed into the existing holes. You remove the slide caps to expose them.

DIY Car Rack

Thought the third-party racks were way too expensive - especially since I only need to use it once a year.I decided to make my own. Sketchup file is attached in case you want it. I used 1"x1"x0.065" square tubing and it feels solid as a rock.Got a welding shop to make it for $150 out ...

Nearest Toyota dealer quotes $360 for a '09 Matrix roof rack. That plus the cargo bag for about $200 makes it a $560 solution. That's the cheapest way to go?

Need to carry some luggage on my roof

Bought an '09 vibe without any kind of rack on it but it does have a sunroof. I need to drive my family a long ways for Christmas and I want to be able to carry a large suitcase or something on the roof for the cheapest price I can find. Here's the options I've put together starting from sane to craz...
