I believe it is quite common for drivers to find a CVT 'weird' and as creatures of habit we often avoid change. CVT's have been around since the 1970's when DAF of Europe invented the technology. They used Rubber V belts on their cars and Steel belts on their commercial vehicles. The first successful auto trans for a big rig as far as I am aware. The cars had reliability issues around 60,000 miles, the belts ...
