Re: Throttle body cleaning on an '09 1.8L? Necessary or even possible? (belfert)

Getting back to the topic at hand, has anyone actually seen a problem with the vehicle seeming to die when coming to a stop fixed by cleaning the throttle body? This is on an '09 with 38,000 miles on it.

I finally put fuel injector cleaner in late last week so I really won't know for a bit if it helped.Drive by wire throttle are not all bad. I have had numerous diesel vehicles and they all had drive by wire throttles. I have a 43 foot motorhome with drive by wire throttle. It works great. People wit...

I'm pretty sure the brake recall has been done. The dealer didn't mention any open recalls.Would throttle body cleaning help with the issue I mentioned? If not, I won't do it. That is a pretty big hole and I don't see how it being dirty could really hurt things.

Throttle body cleaning on an '09 1.8L? Necessary or even possible?

I took my '09 with 1.8L engine (35,750 miles) to the dealer because it sometimes almost stalls when braking to a stop. Of course, they couldn't duplicate it.The service adviser asked about 30,000 mile service and I said I hadn't done anything except the oil change and tire rotation. He recommended a...

Does this not affect all 2009 Vibes, or maybe only with the 2.4L engine? My dealer still says I have no open recall for an accelerator.I'm not going to worry about it. The chances of an issue are quite remote.

Re: What is recommended oil change interval for '09 1.8L? (21Rouge)

GM does oil life monitoring on on most of its engines, but I assume the Vibe doesn't have this because the Vibe is more or less a Toyota product with a Toyota engine. The Vibe also doesn't have a monthly engine health check through Onstar like other GM vehicles which I assume is also because of the w...

Re: What is recommended oil change interval for '09 1.8L? (djb383)

My concern is 5,000 miles too long between oil changes, but I also don't want to waste money by changing the oil too often. In no case would I go over 5,000 miles no matter what oil I used.GM is very vague on what constitutes severe use and doesn't have a specific mileage recommendation for severe u...

What is recommended oil change interval for '09 1.8L?

I searched on this back before the forum died, but never found an answer.Pontiac recommends a 5,000 mile oil change interval on the '09 1.8L. Is this really a proper interval? The manual doesn't mention a severe usage interval like in the old days, but it does say severe use may require more frequen...

Re: Smoke - Carbon Monoxide Alarms (jake75)

The issue with the Kidde CO/smoke alarms is the new ones will die 7 years from first power up. I have some installed in 2001 that have been failing every few months. I lost one in late 2007 or early 2008 and two so far in 2009.CO detectors are supposed to be replaced every seven years and the new on...

Re: Any way to get more heat from '09 Vibe? (belfert)

I talked to the dealer and they thought I should be getting more heat.I didn't make an appointment yet. I also have a bad rattle from the dashboard at highway speeds that can be stopped by placing hand on top of the dash. I will try to remember to check the coolant this evening.

Any way to get more heat from '09 Vibe?

I son't seem to get much heat from my '09 Vibe. It was 13 degrees today and I had to have the heat on full blast even after engine was fully warmed up.I used to other vehicles where I would roast with the heat on full blast. Even my VW Golf diesel would roast me to death at full heat after warmed up...

The car I rented did have roof bars so I suppose it was AWD. I never really looked at the rear to see what it said on the back.

I didn't realize the AWD still had the 4 speed auto. I thought all 2.4l automatics were five speed. I have no idea if the car was AWD or not.

Do fleets (rentals) get different tranny/engine combos on '09 Vibes?

I rented a '09 Vibe from Avis to be sure I liked the car before buying one. It had the 4 speed auto tranny shifter. The car was like a rocket and I really liked it. I was wondering if it could have the 2.4L engine with a 4 speed tranny? I looked under the hood and couldn't see anything about engine ...
