Got it fixed, just took some new bulbs. Not sure why they would burn out at the same time....or maybe one went out a while ago and I never noticed. I don't drive at night often so it is possible. Thanks again for all the help!

Headlights not coming on.

I have a '03 Vibe GT that has been running great. Couple nights ago got into the car, turned on the lights and they flicked on and then were off. Running lights work, brights work. Suggestions? I don't know much about this stuff so forgive the newby question. I looked at the fuse but it appears good...

Evidently, I'm feeling pretty lucky.Lift is still acting a little funny though...doesnt really kick in while in 1st gear...but kicked in during 2nd and 3rd. Maybe I need to change those two bolts (not sure what they are really called) that effect lift. CEL is off though and that is a good start. I'l...

Good news, it was the gas cap!!!Evidently it just needed a little time to reset itself. I got in the car today and no CEL anymore. Took it out on the highway to let it warm up a little and checked for lift....yep, there it is. I'm a happy guy now and so is my car with it's new $9 gas cap. Only downs...

Ok, stopped at the AutoZone and the car is giving a P0420 code. The little printout they gave says the following:The PCM has determined that the catalyst system efficiency for bank 1 is below threshold for the current engine operating conditions. It lists the following possible causes:1-cat converte...

That is good advice though, I didn't actually know that Auto Zone could do that for you. I was going to go into town tonight but that got postponed until tomorrow. I'll see what they say and hopefully that will lead me in the right direction. Thanks for all the input everyone, I'll update tomorrow w...

I am actually. When I bought the car used last spring it already had a K&N Typhoon installed on it. Has worked great up until now, and other then the CEL and lack of lift it's still running smooth as can be.

Thanks, I'm really hoping that is the case. Maybe after work tonight I can get that checked out. Oh, and if it matters this is on a '03 GT with about 87500 on the odo.

CEL and no lift all of a sudden

So I was driving home from visiting the family for the holiday and after about 150miles I noticed the Check Engine Light came on. Car was running fine. I pulled over at the next safe stop, shut if off and let it sit a bit. Restarted with no problem but CEL still on. Later when I was close to home I ...

Reline Accessories Shift Boot

Ordered one of these a few weeks ago for my red '03 Vibe GT. Old shift boot was showing it's age. Got black with red stitching and I'm quite impressed with it. Looks great and feels really nice too, much better then the cheap vinyl stock one. For the price, it's a very easy way to class up the inter...

Well, I've had to make a couple road trip lately and have been able to track it for three more fill ups and the numbers have gotten much better. I wonder if running 89 octane in my GT threw it off for that and even the next tank? Anyway, over the last three fill ups I've averaged 31.63mpg with 80-90...

No AC or defroster....not even running the fan usually. It idles very smooth and is pretty consistent at 1200rpm. I guess I'll just leave it. I'll have to try turning on the AC next time I'm in it to see what that does to the idle speed.

Idle Speed on '03 GT

My '03 GT idles at about 1200rpms, which seems a little high to me. It has a KN Typhoon intake on it that the previous owner installed, not sure if that would do anything. Does it/can it be adjusted to be lower? What should it idle at?

I've now done two fill ups on my '03 Vibe GT. Only mod I know of is a K&N Typhoon kit the previous owner put on it. First tank was 25mpg w/ about 80% city driving and on 89 octane (didn't know it needed premium when I filled it up the first time). Second tank was during a road trip, cruising at ...

I meant I would not have chopped the stock shifter myself....not that I couldn't, I just wouldn't have. I figured I could do the short shifter install, did one on my old Mustang and it wasn't too hard so this can't be too bad either I figure. I just can't really afford it at the moment.

Thanks guys...I'm loving the car so far. Also, the Monster Knob is great! Never too hot or cold and fits nicely in the hand. I love that it doesn't use set screws too, it's properly threaded for the shifter. A great buy for $40.

Yeah...speaking of that...how bad is it to run it on 89? It's been running great but I haven't pushed it up past 4500 or 5000 revs at all.

No lift yet. When I first got it I filled it up with 89 octane gas since that is the cheapest here in Iowa (ethanol subsidies...woohoo). I didn't know the GT was supposed to have 91 or higher. So, I figure I'll wait until I run through this tank and can fill it up with something better before I vent...

Not really I don't think. I mean, the shaft has been shortened (by previous owner...not myself) so the throw is a little shorter overall, but that is all. I think true short throw shifters change the leverage of the shifter....check out http://www.twmperformance.com, they have a good graphic showing...

Re: Just got a Vibe today! (slide13)

So I finally a picture of my car and one of my new Monster Knob shift knob. Car has been running great since I got it, not a single hiccup. I did get it washed today and discovered a few more nicks in the paint than I originally thought it had...and one more slight dent by the rear taillight. Looks ...

Got it fixed. Found out the threading on the shifter is M12x1.25. I found a die and rethreaded the end of the stock shifter shaft and I now have my Monster Knob installed. Lots cheaper then a new shifter.

Thanks for the info! Good to know it's the same threading so at least I can use the knob I want if I get the short shifter. Great tips about buying on Ebay as well, I'll definitely do that. Does anyone happen to know what the stock threading actually is? Think it would be possible to find a proper d...

Shifter questions.

My new to me '03 Vibe GT has been driving great since I got it about a week ago, but now I have some questions regarding the shifter. The previous owner had a LED light shifter knob installed that I didn't care for so decided to order a Monster Knob to replace it. Nice, simple black knob with actual...

Just got a Vibe today!

I've been looking for a new car for a few weeks and hadn't really found anything that fit what I wanted perfectly. I'm a cyclist so I wanted something that could haul a bike. With gas going up I also wanted decent gas mileage (coming from a '96 Ford Explorer). It also has to be reliable. Finally...i...
