Re: (Esteban)

Screw a trailer. If you are solo (or with a dog) like me, you can totally get away with living in your vibe. I've been doing it for two months now and plan on it until October. Think I'm joking? Check out my blog of my trip: http://masonsgreatadventure.blogspot.com

Re: Hatch door struts (A Psycho Martyr)

So there you have it... Another reason not to delay in doing this very simple car project (the older the vibe the better, I'm driving a 2003 so it was a nobrainer for me). You will eventually have it done, its just a matter of if you are going to have an oily mess to clean up or not. Don't delay... ...

Re: Free Services Across America - Please contribute your ideas (star_deceiver)

GMJAP- Thanks for the advice. I can use as many free car services as possible... Oil changes with a good local meal would be great.  Ex. I've got a place that I go to Mo' Gridders in the Bronx that will give you an oil change and a pulled pork sandwich while you wait. Here is an excellent review of...

Free Services Across America - Please contribute your ideas

So as I have mentioned in previous posts, I'm getting really close to leaving on my 7 month cross country adventure (I got delayed because of a death in the family but now its all engines Go!)That being said, I need to hear from my gen vibe peeps about all the free things of value that I should be g...

Re: (Whelan)

Hey,I'm glad to see that this thread has peak some discussion in this rather ignored area of our cars.Whelam - The link you posted above is a coprrect replacement oiption, but the amazon link I posted above was 44 for the pair, whereas Parts Geeks (your link) wants 40 each.

Re: (lovemyraffe)

How would you rebuild them? That sounds like quite a project. I threw my old ones out as soon as the new ones were on.Also, what type of lubricant should/could be used on the shaft portion of the strut?

Re: (bull77)

Again, I would reccomend anyone with an older Vibe to consider this if they want their hatch door to lift up reliably to its maximum height. I would say this would even be more important if you are used to having a trunk lid covered in heavy snow/ice.---Here is the link for the 2003 pair.http://www....

Hatch door struts (shocks, springs, openers, whatever you want to call them)...

So I just want to report in and let folks know that replacing the struts that hold open the hatch door is super easy. If you can change a headlight bulb you can do the hatch struts very easily.I went to pep-boys and they wanted $56 each and it was a special order that I'd have to go back and pick up...

Joat - There is no current draw info on the package... It is a rinky-dink prodect so, i assume it is quite low. Your suggestion about going to the dome light sound pretty good and much esier than going all the way to the fuse box (LOL) as the package suggests. The light has a simple off and on switc...

HAs anyone else gotten around to doing this? How much work is it to get to the pre-paint stages (I'd have a pro paint it)?I think covering it with body color adhesive wrap migh be easier, cheaper and achier the same visual affect, while not being permanant or as strong of a finish.Anyone have some t...

Re: 2009 vibe roof rack (VANCOUVER)

You 2009 guys are going to be lucky if this Matrix option works out for you and allows you to avoid the thule / yakima rack-et. They are way too expensive fo what they are and it can be a real hassle to configure a whole set up even with the help of thier cute online fit-guide. My fiasco for my 2003...

Ok, so the overall package you suggest is two of these "towers" in front, (http://www.thule.com/en/US/Pro....aspx) with a cross bar connecting them, and two of these Thule 450 Crossroad on the factory rails, with a crossbar connecting it. (http://www.thule.com/en/US/Pro....aspx)Then attach...

Roof rack setup (2003 Vibe) for a cross country trip

Hi everyone,I'm a 2003 vibe owner with the factory roof rack and am planning a cross country trip to take place from February to November of 2010. I'm going to be doing a lot of car camping, backpacking and in-car sleeping. This has made me decide on getting my roof rack set up to handle a bike and ...
