Re: (northvibe)

Yep, The radio comes out in 5 minutes. Pull the bezel, unplug the accessory plugs and the HVAC vent control cable. Remove 4 screws holding in radio and you're done.

Re: Saving on Hotel-sleep in the Vibe (E.M. For G.M.)

Pretty cool. As far as camping advice, I would get a small pup tent that sets up in less than 5 minutes when you go on tour. That way you could leave all the junk in the trunk and spread out in the tent. It is no warmer in the car than the tent. All you have to do is find a tent that is small and se...

Re: Removing Factory Sub (Whelan)

I removed mine and installed a pioneer shallow 10" sub under the back panel next to the spare tire. You can't even see my sub, it is totally stealth. The factory sub comes out easily. All you have to do is remove the rear side panel in front of the sub. You have to remove the storage lid for th...

Re: (chevelle_lover)

I recently replaced the rotors on my 05 with R1 Concepts drilled/slotted rotors. Those darn things were rusted to the hubs like you wouldn't believe. I started with a rubber mallet. I had to beat the crap out of the rotors with a metal hammer to loosen the things. I didn't care about damaging the ro...

Re: Rich smell when cold (DHelm72)

Thanks for the replies. I figured it was normal. I am at 32,000 miles so I want to take care of any warranty issues now and I figured I better ask. I thought it might be programmed to run rich at start up to help the engine warm up, kind of like an automatic choke on a carbuereted vehicle. I just ha...

Rich smell when cold

Hello all,I have had a rich (almost sweet) smell from the exhaust at cold start up for a long time. It goes away shortly after the high idle is finished. If I have a window open I can really smell it in the car. It is very strong at the rear of the vehicle as well. It isn't that rotten egg/sulphur s...

Re: Road trip experience: changes needed immediately (UndaCuva)

When climbing mountains, I always turn off the overdrive right before a long grade. I can hold 65mph up a 7% grade with the OD locked out and the RPM is only around 3500 ish. These little engines need to rev. Don't be afraid to let it rev. With OD locked out I can maintain highway speeds without con...

Re: Matrix Console Vs. Vibe Console (GMJAP)

I have an 05 and the cheapest double lid I could find was $70. I ended up buying an entire console from a wrecked 03 at a salvage yard for $29. I Just swapped the lids and installed the cigarette lighter plug into my 05. I got the lid and a bonus 12 volt plug all for $29. The taller lid makes for a ...

Re: Test drove a vibe... (b train)

I have the AWD I live in Western NC. Not alot of snow here but I do ski alot. The higher elevations here are good for about 6 or 7 decent snow storms per year (4" or more is a good snow storm here) and I head out to ski every one of them. When climbing hills in the snow, the AWD is the only way...

Re: (AJ_'04 Vibe)

AJ,One thing the Crutchfield advisor didn't mention. You could buy a line level attenuator. With an attenuator you could adjust the input level of your head unit going to the factory amp. You could then adjust the input level so that there is no distortion at full volume. This way your input voltage...

Re: (DHelm72)

Sorry, I forgot to answer your question about your lack of midrange. I assume you have no amp now, and are running strictly off the head unit's power. You mentioned no amp. You should have full range to the speakers if you are running straight from the head unit. If the installer bypassed your facto...

Re: (NickTrahan)

If the speakers with the Monson system are 2 ohm and you just replace them with 4 or 8 ohm speakers it should work. The only problem is that you would get about half of the power out of that amp using 4 ohm speakers and 1/4 using 8 ohm speakers. If the amp is 2 ohm stable, which it must be if the do...

Re: (ColonelPanic)

Nice car. I test drove an HHR with my wife. The only thing that kept me from buying that car is that the front seats were very cramped. My wife was driving and I was in the passenger seat. I couldn't even open my legs. My right leg was against the door panel, My left leg was against the center conso...
