Re: new shocks an struts

Don't know what you're all going on about, but that description of the Vibe's handling and feel isn't far off... I find it firm, but not punishing over bumps, and it handles well for an 'economy' car. At least, after you put better wheels (a touch wider) on it than came stock on the base model... Bu...

Re: Popping sound

My wife had been complaining about this for awhile... 'from the back.' You could just BARELY hear it, every once in awhile. I was thinking joints or bushings. Just the other day was driving the car. The noise was louder, and happened a LOT more often. On closer inspection, the front driver's side sh...

Re: 06 rotors and brake pads.

Nothing wrong with those, but pretty much anything will work. Being from Florida, you don't have to worry about rotor's greatest enemy... Rust. I'm also not getting what they mean by 'flat spot'. Metal Flakes in Oil?

We have a 2004 Vibe with the 1ZZ-FE engine that's just about to hit the 60k mile mark. I've always done my own oil changes every 5k miles with a new Toyota filter and Castrol 5w30 oil as recommended. The car is driven fairly gently, although I'll occasionally take it towards redline to 'clean it out...

Auto Transmission Fluid Colour

Our Vibe will be 2 years old in August. The first winter we had it, I got stuck in a little snow drift. Knowing the auto transmission was a bit fragile, I lightly drove the car back and forth (keeping revs below 3000 and stopping completely before changing direction). On the third try, starting forw...

I haven't found the Contis to be as bad as people mentioned, but the Vibe did have a noticeable amount of body roll and 'sway' in the rear. Not very confidence-inspiring.Because I'm cheap, when I bought my 16" winter I put them on the stock wheels, and the Contis on 16x7" wheels. MUCH bett...
