Re: (Its_Dave)

I can get a reman engine from the part store with my commercial account for about $2000-2500. And a case of beer and some pizza is about all it will cost me in labor (and a weekend of my time). So if I am able to find a good low mileage used one I will be even that much farther ahead. So call it $3k b...

Re: (jake75)

I hear you, however her car is PAID OFF, and everything else if in pretty good shape, and she LOVES IT!!!The last thing I want to do is lock into another 4-5 years worth of payments on a new car.Besides I have mechanics in the family so we are going to do the work ourselves so really I will only be ...

Re: Opinions wanted on cracked block issue (ou.grizzly)

Corrolla's have the same engines? That was actually going to be my next question, what are possible donar vehicles that will simply bolt in??Of course my teenage sone told me to snag a GT engine to bolt in. If it was my car, there is no way I would drop a stock engine in it, but for my wife, she gets...

Re: Lower alternator bolt help (wyldejackyl)

Just wanted to say I know this is an OLD posting, but...While working on my wife's 03 last Friday night I too started to round off the bolt head and after throwing a few things in the garage and saying a few choice words, I logged in here to search for some help and came across this thread. What a li...

Opinions wanted on cracked block issue

Well just found out earlier in the week that my wife's 2003 AWD Vibe has a cracked block. There are only 133k miles on the clock and there is a small crack under the exhaust manifold a few inches away from the blcok drain petcock. The mechanic does not think it cracked due to over heating, lack of wat...

Re: Which oil do you use? (dkim1)

Not sure where you think it is cheaper to go with regular oil changes, and where you are getting $11 per qt. of Amsoil. I sell it for alot less than that. Also the Amsoil filters are good for the same amount of time as the oil 25,000 miles. So there is NO need to change the filter in between oil chan...

Re: Poll - How many use Synthetic Oil or Regular Oil in their Vibe? (dkim1)

Being an Amsoil dealer I guess I would have to say synthetics all the way.Honestly though I run Amsoil 5w-30 in the vibe and 20w-50 in my Jeep with a stroker engine, and they run great. When I first switched to Amsoil I left it in the jeep for just over 25,000 miles and never changed the filter. Afte...

First off Amsoil is NOT the Amway of automotive fluids, at least that is NOT how I approach it.All I can tell you is my own experience, nothing more nothing less.Steel you are absolutely correct changing the oil more often does not hurt your engine and if you get a good deal on oil and filters then ...

I have to tell you that changing your oil every 3-4k miles really is over kill. Even with conventional Dino oil you can go about 6k.I run amsoil and just had a sample tested that I ran in my Jeep for 25,xxx miles on the same filter even and the analysis came back as time to change but only as CAUTIO...

I will check the local parts stores to see who has something.Once I find the problem do I need to reset the computer?I checked the gas cap this morning and added some oil but the light is still on (might be another problem also) I will look at it closely this weekend.
