Yep, the problem was the ball joints, they were shrter in length than the moog ones I ordered from Rock auto. Alignment was straightforward afterwards. Thanks Kirk9561.

I just posted the exact same question.... replaced the LCA's and have no adjustment left. Thanks to Kirk9561 I will double check the ball joints and see what the differences are. I bought ebay arms and they are identical to OEM's.
