Re: AWD Rear Struts

I take it you have a gen1 Vibe. Here is info about removal, install, and torque specs. for the AWD. Download the link and extract the zip file. You will have two pdf files to view with info. http://www.filefactory.com/file/66vpbx1gy3cd/RearShockAWD.zip If possible, I would just go with the Monroe Q...

AWD Rear Struts

All, Trying to get information on the rear strut assembly in my 2004 AWD Vibe before I take everything apart. I'm planning on replacing the struts all around on the car, as I'm at 150k and I believe the suspension is all original (Bought the car about 4k ago). Front drivers side is leaking for sure,...

Re: Parking lot hit & run

Damn that sucks!

Hope you can get it all worked out without too much trouble/cost on your end!

Time to start looking around your parking lot for a white car with some red paint on their bumber

Re: Low Hum on light acceleration around 30-45mph.

ehoff121, no worries! I kind of thought it was something like the overdrive, but I was hoping someone would suggest it without any confirmation bias of my own seeping in. It does happen right about 1700-1900 RPM, so that also fits. The suggestions about throttle body and spark plugs are good, I'll m...

Re: Kayak hauling

I think you will be fine with that sized boat on your car. I regularly transport my 17 foot canoe on top of my 04 AWD vibe (it's on there right now actually). This includes 3+ hour trips at 80MPH on the highway. I have a kind of weird hybrid Thule rack setup on my car though that is (in my mind) a b...

Re: Low Hum on light acceleration around 30-45mph.

I can totally understand your frustration! I don't mind it that much personally... but I bought this car with the full knowledge that it might not be the "most" fun to drive, more of a workhorse really. I drove home yesterday, and to work today with overdrive off and did not experience any...

Re: Low Hum on light acceleration around 30-45mph.

sounds perfectly normal to me. What you are hearing is the car is in overdrive and stuck between gears. You will get a low rumble when the transmission struggles to downshift to a lower gear. You can thank Toyota for the crappy gear ratios on these Vibes. A four speed tranny is so yesterday. Nothin...

Re: Low Hum on light acceleration around 30-45mph.

So I bought the car about 2 months ago, and I checked the ATF Fluid then, didn't smell burnt, no flakes that I could see. was a clear reddish color. I'll check again tonight to make sure nothing has changed. Didn't notice issue this when I first purchased the car, but I remember first hearing it not...

Low Hum on light acceleration around 30-45mph.

Alright, I've been observing this issue for a little while now and it has me a bit confused (not that hard when it comes to cars) so I'm hoping someone here might have an idea of what could be causing this. I have an AWD 1.8 vibe with an Auto transmission. I've noticed that when driving around 30-45...

Re: Full Thule rack setup

Yikes, an empty rack creates a LOT of noise at highways speed, at least on mine. I thought it was my tires yesterday but today I reached up and felt the ceiling at 50-60mph and I could feel it vibrating from the front rack. It's on tight, but maybe not as tight as it should be? From my experience t...

Re: Full Thule rack setup

Nice, that sounds like a steal for a fully functional rack setup that you know will fit your car! I had the same hope when I got this car, the factory rack seems like a pretty badly designed after thought though. I quickly realized that with the locations of the stock cross bars being so far back th...

Re: Is this a good price?

Seems a little high to me, but certainly depends a lot on the condition of the vehicle. Also I tend to personally avoid buying from dealerships so that adds money right there. I just bought an '04 AWD for 2900. It is in (as far as I can tell) good condition and has very little rust (unusual for a 12...

Full Thule rack setup

Alright, I got my Thule racks setup on my new Vibe! (hopefully this is the right place to post this, apologies if it isn't) Having a full, large set of racks on my car is a must or me. I do a lot of canoeing, mountain biking, and skiing and being able to carry stuff on the car makes for happy passen...

New to me AWD 2004 Vibe

Just recently bought a 2004 AWD Vibe with about 145,000 miles on it. Came across this blog while I was researching vehicles and knew I would absolutely be joining if I ended up in a Vibe. I come from owning old Volvos (240's and 940's) so this is a pretty big change for me, but so far I am loving it...
