Re: Possibly a broken connecting rod in the engine

When you say the junk yard replaces the engine, they actually do the labor too or do they just supply the engine? Both the mechanic and the dealership told me that a replacement engine would be about 3K, maybe up to 4K with parts/labor. It's got a Toyota engine, which I wouldn't have thought would b...

Re: Possibly a broken connecting rod in the engine

The oil light didn't come on. So I didn't know there was a problem until I checked the oil and saw how low it was. And there was no indication that there was a problem earlier this year when it was at the shop. It could have been something else, too. I don't think the mechanic took it apart to reall...

Re: Possibly a broken connecting rod in the engine

So it had been knocking a little bit when I revved high and the oil was low for a while which I took care of a few weeks ago. A friend thinks it's probably a broken connecting rod in the engine but even if ...

Re: Removing A-pillar trim and interior light control panel

Awesome, thanks! I have an 03 Vibe so that's perfect. Would there be an easy way to run the cable under the dash? Or would I be able to run it under the dash directly to the A-pillar? I was thinking of carving a small notch out of the interior lights panel cover on the bottom to route the cable up t...

Removing A-pillar trim and interior light control panel

Hey all. I'm new to this site (and car stuff in general). I decided to tackle installing a new head unit which went smoothly, but it came with a microphone to install on the driver side visor. At the moment (temporary fix, I hope) I used some 3M strips to keep the cable in place and I ran it down th...
