Re: Wind Noise... (capecodbeachfront)

My goal was to quiet the noise already there...although I am beginning to think part of the noise is some how transmitting upward from the tires. I say this because the noise changes with road surfaces. Weird... but the noise also gets quieter the longer I drive without changing speeds.

Wind Noise...

Will the stick-on type wind deflectors over the side windows and the sun roof help with wind rush noise ?????or just make it louder ????

Wind leak...

I would like to put a heavier weather stripping on the INSIDE of the door where the glass pushes against it. Top of the bottom half of the door. What is this part called?? Is there a heavier version available. Wind noise is coming up the inside of the glass... passenger side.

Re: "new" 1.8 engine ? (ned23)

The drop off of 4-7 mpg was a bit of a shocker...I guess I had expect 2mpg or so...Did some talking with the dealer yesterday...but we did not get too far. They didnot want to deal much on the 2.4,plus a lot of 'package stuff' boosted the price.Ugly wheel covers (1.8) vs wheels was an issue.Plus I wa...

"new" 1.8 engine ?

As an owner of a 2003 Vibe with the original 1.8 engine I always said my next car would have more horsepower and would be QUIETER on the road. The wind noise of the 03 has tortured me for 5 years. Now I find myself ready to buy an 09 Vibe. I tried a Tucson but the horror stories of poor gas mileage s...

Re: Wind & Road Noise ! (capecodbeachfront)

Sublime, I am impressed. Nice work. I do have one question though...Was there no sound deadening installed by the manufacturer?I will not be going as far as you did...but I am thinking of putting surface deadener materials in the 'way-back' of the Vibe. I'm thinking some noise may start there and ge...

Re: Wind & Road Noise ! (capecodbeachfront)

I will certtainly try some of these tips.I have already moved the cross members to the back of the rack. They appear to be hard to remove... you have to take rack apart.I did replace the horrible stock Continental tires.I have noticed 'whoosh' can be louder witha cross wind ???NOTE: I always hear the...

Wind & Road Noise !

Okay, I am determined to quiet my 2003 Vibe.I've been annoyed with the 'rush' noise for 5 years. Is it my roof rack cross members ??The drip edge over the windshield??Could it be the mirrors???My plan of attack:Can I stuff pipe foam into the side channels of the roof rack?Should I pay to have the cro...

Re: Cabin wind noise ??? (keithvibe)

speaking of window seals...always bugged me you could not roll down side window to remove the frost on outside of window. I usually have to reach across car and push against window to get it to clear the frost. Same with driver side window. I blamed it on the curved window glass.

Re: Cabin wind noise ??? (keithvibe)

What do you think a body shop would charge to remove the cross pieces ? 1/2 to 1 hour labor ???Are there deflectors for front of rack that might give same results ?Or I suppose deflectors could make it worse!

Re: Cabin wind noise ??? (capecodbeachfront)

Noise does not seem to be at the side window...at least not the driver's side.Is not the high pitched whistle... more of a roar.

Re: Cabin wind noise ??? (Raven)

I have moved the front rail toward the back...Since I do not use the rails...is there a way to remove just the cross rails ???It is about 10degrees outside or I would go out and check.

Re: Does your Vibe sound like an airplane? (TRD4reel)

I am of the belief that much of the noise is amplified by the cladding around the wheel wells. This may also add to the tire noise seeming louder for what is minor tread wear. Is there a way to sound deaden behind the cladding?? I have been considering using a high tech sound spray.

Replace H's with T rated tires?

Like many others I have been disappointed with my Conti tires.tires wear so fast even a slight alignment issue ruins tires!Dealer help was a complete joke.... they said alignment and rebalance "might" help with noise. Milked me for $80 more. From the tire noise at low speed you would swear ...
