The bags certainly are not waterproof by any means which is a major downfall on a long trip or on a rainy day. It's water resistant to an extent but in the manual that was included Thule recommends wrapping anything that goes in the bag in plastic to keep it dry if there is potential for rain. They ...

I use Thule's cargo bag and just strap it to the side rails. I also add a ratchet strap to it for added piece of mind. The bags are great because when they're not in use you can fold them up and put them in a storage bag so you can still carry it in the car if for some reason you suddenly need more ...

I did this for my Vibe as well. I found the mat at Home Depot but it was over $20 so I checked Wal-Mart and found the exact same black 3x5 mat for $10CDN.

Before I go and spend the money to buy a new HU, is there any way to fix this problem?
