Re: (ragingfish)

Yeah, that would be a great deal, but as soon as they open up the radio compartment, they'll see the spliced wires already in there. There's no hiding that. So the manufacturer's warranty would not really cover it.I already called a dealer, they said it would be $75 for the "diagnostic" an...

Re: (ragingfish)

Okay, so since I don't have $100 to pay my dealer to just fix the radio reception, would it be possible to really splice into the "coax" and how would I go about doing it?All I've ever used for splicing is the (removed) connectors that you stick the stripped wires in each end of the connec...

Re: Splicing into Factory Antenna (cohocarl)

Yeah, but I'm working with my factory radio now. So how do I make the wiring for the antenna better without splicing it somehow? How hard is it to run all new wiring?

Re: (Jahntassa)

Good catch on the wrong Metra part. I think I'll use this instead of the GM20. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-2...4EC18 I don't think it's the connector in the radio, because even with a GM adapter to my aftermarket head unit, the reception was horrid. As for splicing, should I solder it or could I use...

Splicing into Factory Antenna

I have had an issue for a while with my radio reception. I installed a new head unit, but after noticing horrible radio reception (like no stations at all) I took back the head unit. I wired up my original, factory Delco head unit. Still horrible reception. I took the advice from one of the other po...

Re: Amplifier Connection (gedwards)

YAY! That worked beautifully. I have a working car radio now!! The only thing is there is a loud hiss that is noticable when the volume is low. I think I saw some posts on it before. Let me know if you have the url's or an idea of your own. Thanks again for everyone's help.George

Re: Amplifier Connection (ragingfish)

You guys rock. I think this might work. I'm going to go try it and I will let you know. I'll test each of the three black wires in the accessory power part of my head unit harness. Hopefully that won't affect anything if I choose the wrong black wire. Cross your fingers.THANKS!!George2004 Pontiac Vi...

Amplifier Connection

Okay, I have finally found some time to sit back down with my non-existant radio and try to connect all the wires I cut from the stock connectors (bad idea). If you want to follow my story, it starts here: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=6799From there, I have actually gotten my new head uni...

Re: I made a huge mistake!! (gedwards)

Well I gave it a shot today. I found out the Blue w White Stripe ( Battery ) should never touch the Brown ( Ground ) while installing the stereo. I ended up blowing a fuse and it's too late to go out and get a new one. I'll let you know tomorrow if things are working once I have a new fuse.By the wa...

Re: I made a huge mistake!! (joatmon)

This all helps a ton!! I'm gonna try a few things and I'll let you know if it works. Thanks, everyone. This is so great. I thought I might be doomed forever.By the way, how did you get a copy of the service manual for the moon & tunes vibe? That might be helpful to me if I ever get adventurous a...

quote:I dont know if this helps any: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=5396 That looks like what I might need, but I don't understand the abbreviations or any color specifications. I made a huge mistake!!

I just bought a new JVC Arsenal Head Unit to put into my 2004 Vibe w/ Moon & Tunes Package, no Navigation. I took some time taking out the stock radio, looked at my directions from JVC, and thought I needed to cut the wires from the connectors. There was a 24 PIN connector and a 12 PIN connector...
