Stalling on a hill - Vibe GT (Long Story)

Sunday, I went to visit some friends that live in a townhome complex on a hill. They are about half way up a paved road that is about a 15 - 20 degree slope. I got part way up the hill and stopped to see where I was. When I started up the hill again, the fun started...I let out the clutch and stalle...

Just an update to everyone. The noise is still there but it's not getting any worse. It would be interetesing to know if anyone with a Celica has experienced the same problem as I understand the engine and tranny are the same. I'm going over to the other side to have a look. If I'm not back in a few...

Re: (Dave_ca)

Nothing positive. The fluid sample came back ok so I at least know that the transmission is intact. They want to check it in antoher 3 months. Do you notice the noise only during lift ? Do you have an intake ? I use Mobil 1 in the engine and I wonder if that might be related but it does sound like t...

Re: (Dave_ca)

That's exactly what the noise sounds like. I joked around with the foreman about putting a S/C in the week before. Dropped the car off today at the dealership. They said that they'll need it for a few days which is fine by me. I'll feel at home in my '03 Corolla loaner car . They don't know what's c...

Re: The Vibe switches into "Winter Mode" (mikey00)

In BC, we get alot of rain. I have the Toyo Garitt HT and for the amount of snow we had, they were great. We had one dump of a few inches and with the ice that quickly formed in our area, these tires would not slip. I remember being told it has something to do with the crushed walnuts in the compound.

Re: Transmission noise (Dave_ca)

I haven't noticed whether it happens in lift but I find it is more noticeable when driving up a hill. Usually the drone from the exhuast blocks all other noises

Transmission noise (whine) above 4k rpm

I can't say if this happens in all gears (because of the exhaust noise) but in 4, 5, 6 over 4k rpm, I hear a whinning noise in the engine compartment.I had the shop foreman go for a road test with me and he heard it too. It is a constant noise in that it doesn't change pitch but it will get louder (...

Re: Hello BC'ers (engine1)

I just got my Silver GT 3 weeks ago tomorrow. Pick it up from the shop tomorrow lowered with Eibach Sportlines and tinted rear 5 windows 35% (I think). I really like the car and there aren't too many out on the road (one of the reasons why I bought it) Can't wait to see how it handles...Friends were...
