Yes, it happens regardless of which gear we are in. I though maybe the gear got stuck in 2 or 3 and we tried driving at the different gear, but the noise level stays the same. We can see the rpm meter goes up when we are in a different gear though so we know the gear shift is working.

We bought probably one of the first batch Vibes that came on the market, in early Spring 2002 (it was a 2003 automatic). We love it and so far, other than chipped paint off the front bumper and the A/C leak; we didn't have much problems. The car has 220K km on it (about 150K miles) now.A month or so...
