Do you have Battery and Load backwards on your picture? It looks like the battery connection is coming out of the module, and your load connection is the wire running to the module. Is that correct?
Hey, I have a question for you who is all so wise with headlights. My friend's got a Suzuki Esteem and he wants to disable his DRLs. WOuld I pull out the red a white wire from his car too? or are the wires different colors in different cars? Eitehr way could you tell me which wire I should remove? I forgot which wire we pulled out to disable my DRLs on my Vibe.
Each car maker has thier own DRL modules, and such each as different ways of disabling them. For the matrxi/vibe and other toyotas I know it's to cut the red/white wire. For my subaru I just unplugged the entire module and that did the trick. Other cars you have to pull out a fuse or relay. This site has some details for disabling DRL on many carshttp://lightsout.org

The security gaurds at the check point do not appreciate DRLs shining in their eyes.Yeah, I live around DC and people are always complaing about DRL since they have to cut their lights when entering military facilities. DRL makes it hard and they get hassled by MP's
Nice breakdown man. This is an important mod for me, because the guards at my base get pissed as well. I just didn't know which wires were which. Thanks.
Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others have labored hard for.
I found an easy way, IMHO, to get around the DRL issue. All I did was pop the sensor out of the dash and unplugged it. I then wrapped a thin piece of copper wire around the sensor wiring and the sensor so the wiring wouldn't drop down into the dash. Snapped the sensor back into the dash and now I have full control over the lights. The DRL's are still on, but everything else is controlled by the stalk. It took less than five minutes.

DRL questionI bought the Toyota Switch Part #00550-42966, and it only has 2 prongs on the back, not 3. Will this still work? How?On the webpage write up (http://dalenet.com/matrixvibe/): Where does the load wire come from? Below step 10?

Ok i just want to double check. If i do this mod, I will have a switch that can turn off the head lights whenever i switch it. BUT when the switch is "on" the DRLs and auto lights will work still?
Yes, switch on: DRLs and Auto lights work. Switch off: no DRLs and the headlights are manual to operate.I installed a switch on the red w/ white stripe wire at pin #12 on the DRL module. I used the Toyota Switch Part #00550-42966, which for me had 2 prongs (not 3 as listed by Dalenet.com), no ground. It worked great.

Year late, but just ordered the switch. Dont know where you got the switch for $7, but the local Toyota place here said it was $17. Oh well. Thanks for the write up. Edit: Switch is no longer available.....great. Kills this project.

you can get a switch at any auto place, actually, they even had them at Walmart....sure it's not the perfect matching Toyota one, but it still works.I'm going to give this project a shot sometime in the next month
Oh yeah...did I mention I am a professional photographer? This is my website
Found the switch on eBay. Not sure if this switch is available through Toyota, but you can try #00550-35976. The light on the switch is small and round instead of the rectangle one.

Sorry to revive the old thread. But the link above seems to be different from the topic of this thread. This thread topic was how to disable DRL and auto headlights. The link above is for keeping ASL while removing DRL.
Basically what I'm looking for is a way to install a switch that will give me control over the lights just using the stick on the column. I want to be able to turn off DRL and auto headlights. I'm sure this is somewhere in the forum but I am having trouble finding it using the search. Is this as simple as cutting the red/white wire to pin 12, and running them through a switch?
I am also having trouble reading the diagram in the link above.
