Shark Fin Antenna Install

Post by keithvibe »

Ok I got my shark fin antenna the other day from the group buy off 9thgen. So here is my write up.First take it out of the box..... LOLSecond take off the existing antenna:It just unscrews.Third locate the correct threaded screw to fit the antenna. The package comes with two.. FYI... use the smaller one...LOLPlace the screw threw the expandable antenna wire underneath the antenna and screw it fast to the mount on the Vibe.Forth Measure, measure and measure again. 19inches is center of the roof racks.VIBEonly Matrix your on your ownCenter the antenna and tape off the location.Fifth, get some good rubbing alcohol and go over the area with some cotton balls and get it good and clean.Sixth, remove the adhesive backing on the underside of the antenna and set it down gently on the roof..... double check the position!press and hold firmly for about a minute. Then remove the tape.Thats it... your done...The reception is a bit diminished but too bad.

LOLI beeped and waved... they followed me for a few miles smiling and pointing... I like to think they were pointing at the antenna I am sure they weren't though ... funny thing was the sales person was the same guy who I used.... LOL

I got mine black of course, however I used a dry erase marker to outline the position since I have a white car. Haven't noticed radio reception diminished but then again I listen to the Ipod in the car. The dry erase just wiped away after wards.

Did you have to remove the old antenna base as well, or does it fit right on top of it?

TRy the dental floss method, but then you gotta figure out how you're gonna get it back on!

well the reception i find aint the greatest..but if i do put it back on i'd just shave off any access rubber down to the fiberglass or whatever it's made of..then get some of the same style tape and just re-do it
