Drivers side Window Problems

Post by cbrf1wr »

I have read of many others in the forum with this complaint. I just recently purchased an 2003 Vibe and I am experiencing the same difficulties. It was damaged before purchase. The window support brackets and arms are broken/bent. The rear bracket is no longer attached and the front arm is bent toward the outside of the door. The window appears to have been popped back into place by someone before I purchased the vehicle ,and only popped out when I rolled the window down all the way. Whoever did it took a chance when they popped it back into the door tracks because it is bent pretty bad. You can see a small amount of damage to the top window weather stripping when they did it. I just did not notice it until after the vehicle was purchased. It looks like this is a factory defect as the reason for the bending appears to be the door stops. They are basically in the path of the window when it is rolled down, because they are to wide. Has anyone found a tech bulletin regarding this that I can give to the dealer I purchased the vehicle from. Or possibly who can we complain to about a recall. Help Please.

----------^-----------------I don't know, I see some posts where some have said that there is a TSB, but I can't find a specific reference to it, either the text of it or the TSB #. I hope you at least got the bent parts replaced under warranty. Sux to have problems like that on a new car.

Unfortunately it is not a recall and probably will not be a recall since this is not a safety issue.I will see what I can find for a TSB if any however it sounds like yours was damaged as you say thus not the cars defeat. Like Joatmon states there may be info on the window glass and the door stops but yours was damaged somehow and I feel it the real issue here. The glass breakage that some have had here does not result in all the damage you have. My 2003 has never had this issue and never had bent window or door parts.

OK here is one...Subject: Door Check Strap Hitting the Door Glass/Regulator - kw check front noise pop scratch window #PIC3350 - (01/20/2005) Models: . --------------------------------------------------------------------------------.The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.Condition/Concern:The Customer might notice a thump/pop noise when closing the doors. After further investigation the Technician might notice that the door check link is hitting the door glass/regulator assembly..Recommendation/Instructions: If the check link is hitting the door glass/regulator assembly then replace the check strap with new design. This newer design has a slightly different shape to it and will clear the glass/regulator assembly.Check strap P/N # 88973010 (driver) P/N # 88973009 (passenger)Note: This condition is caused by over extending the doors making the door frame flex enough and concave it..Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed..Models:(2003-2005 Pontiac Vibe)
