Subwoofer squeals, any ideas why?

Well, I built an under the seat sub box and everything was working fine, then a few minutes into testing everything out, the sub started to sqeal. You can barely hear it while the music is playing, but in between songs you can really hear the feedback coming from it. It is not a squealing sound from the sub thumping, it is actually feedback noise. Any ideas why this is happening or how I can trouble shoot it? Thanks

It could be a bad ground on your amp.Or very poor RCA wire between the HU and the amp. Check your wires.

A ground loop isolator? Pardon my n00bness, what is that? Also, I have noticed that the feedback changes sometimes when the car idles more or when I apply the gas while driving. Could this still be a grounding wire issue or could it be a problem with the REM wire maybe?

No, this is definitely a case of bad ground. You may want to reground your amp. Inder Singh

Like they said above check the grounding and try a ground isolator. If those dont do the trick, try checking your B+ supply (+12V from your battery) for looseness or inadequate wire gauge. Rare that this is a problem but I have seen it before.....

Ok I fixed it. The ground wasn't in the best spot, but the crossover switch was set too high on my amp, as was the gain. Here is the finished box. I know the carpeting job is shabby, but it sounds good.

It sounds very good I think. The bass is not real deep since it is only a 10", but has a nice tight sound.
