Need a couple of part numbers...

Does someone have part numbers and/or prices for the center piece in the dash that contains the climate controls, the household outlet, the cigarette lighter and the ring around the shifter? Also, is the overlay that contains the climate control labels (it's like a thick sticker) a separately ordered part, or does it all come together and you just have to apply the sticker once it comes in?I'm trying to arm myself with as much knowledge as possible when I talk to Pontiac again and go back to the dealer, so any help is greatly appreciated.

I think can definitely help you out on this one! I've had all of that stuff replaced. The bad thing about it is, I don't have any descriptions of what is what other than the vague descriptions from GM on my work order. I had to have the following replaced: Bezel around radio, trim around A/C control knobs, trim around lighter/inverter (I think that was one piece, not sure,) trim around the shifter, and the shifter console itself. Here are the part numbers that they used. I looked the prices up on GM Parts Direct to see if maybe I could figure out what was what, but still not sure. I'd say the most expensive part was the shifter console, possibly a.k.a. "PANEL" but not sure what the other parts are. The prices mentioned are the GM list prices, per GM Parts Direct.88970558 PLATE ($27.99)88970554 PLATE ($44.07)88973108 PANEL ($66.87)88970556 PLATE ($53.19)88970557 DIAL ($25.49)I'm pretty sure the trim around the A/C knobs is jut one piece that comes with the overlay already attached. I was looking at the parts guy's computer when we were ordering this stuff... I saw the outline of the piece itself, but it didn't show an extra part that goes on top of it, which would be the overlay. So I'm thinking you probably have to get the whole thing. That could be what the part labeled 'DIAL' is, I dunno!Hope this helps - probably doesn't though. If someone "in the know" could reference those part numbers and let us know what pieces they represent, that would be great... They could be added to the Vibe parts list that ragingfish maintains.

The trim around the a/c knobs is part of the piece that goes around the shifter...it's all one thing. The "lip" around the knobs is part of what they scratched up initially, and they replaced the overlay but the scratches are still on the part around the knobs, so it's two separate pieces. I don't know what they did, but they f'ed it up.

Oh! I got ya! I didn't know that was all one piece... I thought the A/C controls and shifter trim were separate. Learn something new every day. They did damage the plastic around the fan and temperature knobs on mine, sounds like what happened to yours. So the part number you're looking for may be listed above...I had some good pictures of what they jacked up on my car but can't seem to find them now.

Yeah, the silver parts are all one piece. The radio bezel is separate, but the climate controls, the rings around the climate controls, the household outlet/cig lighter panel are all one piece. The black shifter cover, however, is different...so I'd say one of those parts is the radio bezel, one is the shifter cover, and one is the part I need...as for what the other may be...I'm stumped.

Yep, there's a lot of part numbers there for the majority of things to be one piece... Hmmm!

I think that the dial is probably physically the climate control dial...maybe the center one...I think it's the one that comes off. I wish I could get my dealer to willingly replace that much stuff...LOL.This stuff is all about half the price on GMPartsDirect, if only I could figure out what was what.

I went 30,000 miles and not a scratch on any of that stuff, give the car to them for 1 hour, and everything was trashed. Quote »This stuff is all about half the price on GMPartsDirect, if only I could figure out what was what. That's the tricky part... Since they use the same crappy descriptions as GM, hard to know for sure you're getting the right thing. I've ordered plenty of stuff from those guys though, the parts arrived pretty quick and I saved roughly half compared to GM list.

Kari - I'll be heading back to the shop sometime in the not so distant future... If you'd like, and the parts guy isn't too busy, I could go bug him and try see if he can help us figure out what is what.I'll be there for a while, getting the cladding replaced. I don't think I'll ask for a rental, and probably won't be able to find a ride. Instead I'll just hang out for a few hours and annoy the staff. So I'll have plenty of time!

If your staff annoyance brings you to the parts man, I'd sincerely appreciate it if you could find out what is what in that dash assembly, so I'll know what I'm talking about when I start my own staff annoyance project.

That's cool. And when I find out, I'll see about getting them over in the parts list thread, so they can be added there for the folks who may need the info in the future.

I was browsing the thread about Hope's red interior paint when I saw a post by scherry about the panels, and it appears that 88970556 is the part for the climate controls and what all is attached to it, but I would still be curious as to what the diagram on the parts computer shows.

I looked at the Toyota parts book pdf, and it confused me even more because it points at the household outlet, the decal, and the rest of that (climate controls, shifter ring, etc.) as three separate pieces. So it looks like the decal may be separate. But I *know* the household outlet is part of that solid assembly with the rest of that...because I've seen it myself, and have pictures. This is so confusing. Bah.
