Hopefully, if the weather clears up today, I can put them on after work.I was wondering if there was a way to attach them to the relay for the turn signal blink when you lock or unlock the car so they will blink too. HMMM well, just a thought.

That's probably doable... Just need to somehow tap into the output from the keyless entry module that goes to the flasher relay... Now where that is, I don't have a clue.

The flasher relay is behind the driver-side pocket to the left of the steering wheel. If you take the pocket out, it's that grey relay attatched on the left hand side. The question is, would the kit support it. LED underbody kits generally have a control box, and if it doesn't have an input for flashers, which it probably won't, you might have to do something drastic to do that..LEDS are generally as bright as neons, depending on the kit..

My kit showed up today. I opened the package and one of the tubes was broken. I emailed the guy to get a replacement. Hopefully, it isn't a hassle.

Purely would be for my personal amusement... And the amusement of others - "hey man, check this out..." lol There are many things that you can do with your car around here and not get hassled by the cops, but neon/etc doesn't seem to be one of them.I do have a request for a pic, Mr. Poopypants: next time you have your boat hitched to the Vibe, fire up those LED's and grab a pic.

OK, I am in the process of working on my boat to make it a purely fishing boat so I won't be using it anytime soon. I will be moving it to storage so I can finish the work indoors. I will snap a pic then. And as far as the LEDs go, that's anyones guess. Things are rolling along smoothly with it though it seems as though UPS is going to take care of business.

Yeah UPS seems like they would face their issues head on instead of hiding from them We shipped a box full of fishing poles and stuff down to the condo on Captiva Island when we went and the box looked like hell when it arrived...it wasn't ractangle anymore, you could officially call it a cylinder (removed). Nothing inside was damaged though.Good luck

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO LEDs INSTALLED!! It took me about 3.5 hours, but I ran into a problem (one bundle of 6 wires was too short, had to splice) but they are installed and BAD (removed). I will get some pictures soon. They are the ones that move in patterns, right now it's in the driveway on pulse. Pictures to come soon. PROMISE.

Yea well tell that to the civic on the next street over. Maybe his kit didn't come with as many LEDs as yours? None the less it's not even close to as bright as my neons . Oh yeah? Well, my dad knows karate and he can beat your dad up anyday

The big difference is that the LEDs cast a direct light where neons cast an indirect light. I have a more pronounced line than neons, but I also have a nice glow. I may take pics tonight, this weekend was busy.

...And 12V going through your body is a lot less painful than whatever it takes to light a neon tube. lol! Before I bought those LED's to go under the dash, I experimented with a cheap neon tube from Auto Zone. The transformer was in the cigarette lighter plug. The day after I bought the thing, it quit working. I grabbed hold of it when it was plugged in and didn't realize a wire had broken off the tube. That kinda hurt... I don't know how much voltage was going through there, but hey - I'm still here. (Physically at least!)Since then, gimme LED's!

Posted: Mon Sep 27, 2004 4:43 am
by Jahntassa
Transformer in the lighter plug? I don't know about that one...must've been REALLY cheap. All the neon tubes i've seen either are built into the tube, or are external. LED kits can be nice, if you have a quality kit. That's the thing about Neon. All neon is neon!

Man, I bought my neon base tube from Wal-Mart back in July of 2002...the very first thing I ever bought for my car. It still works like new. The wires wiggled loose about a month or so ago, but I just cracked open the housing and rewired it and then electrically taped the computer chip back to the tube and it stil works great. Every now and then I'll go to adjust the bass light settings and accidentally touch the bottom of the computer chip and electricute myself (removed).

It may have been in the tube itself, can't remember. It appeared to be in the plug, but now you have me doubting that... Either way, the shock kinda hurt. *sizzle*
