What is the average lifespan of the Vibe's rear break shoes? I just replaced my front brakes a month or so ago and was just thinking about how long it is going to be before I have to replace the rears. By the way I have drums on the back (hence the shoes, not pads)Thanks for the help in advance.

ur rear brakes r supposed to last u 65k-75k miles. Sorry, I don't know the conversion for our canadian vibers. Inder Singh

I last looked at the pads on mine at about 45K miles, and there was still plenty of pad left, only very minor disk scoring.

Well, for some cars it's fronts 25k-35k, depending on how u drive. rears is like 75k, also, depending on how u drive.Inder Singh

lots of hills around here, i'm at 39000 and haven't had any brake work done yetwhen i go downhill, i downshift so i don't have to use the brakes. it seems it's working.

In Michigan, around the southeastern portion, not many hills. Plus, people round here are horrid drivers. I dunno how they get their licenses. Anyways, there's a lot of like stop and go traffic round here, so, yeah.Inder Singh

I live in the foothills, so no matter where you go, you are driving up or down a hill. I changed mine at 25k miles.

TRD4reel,I hear you!We sold are house and were moving down to Westland.The first thing I noticed is when someone get on or off the highway every lane comes to a complete stop. (removed) is up with that?I expect we'll be going thru some brake pads now.

On average with rear shoes, you'll replace the fronts twice to the rears once. 2-1 average is the ratio.

I have the 5-speed and avoid too much downshifting on the theory that brakes are cheaper than a clutch, and I want to get as much life out of my clutch as possible.

I was beginning to feel like the only one. So far my front brakes are okay, I have some scoring on the disks, I am sure that is just from the sand here. The rears should be fine.
