Static in XM radio?

I have the OEM XM radio in my 2004 Vibe (M&T package with XT radio option). I've noticed that when I play channels in the FM band, it seems to have more random static than the FM radios in my other cars. This is one expensive radio setup, so I'm surprised that I'm getting this static.Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm not sure it's related to XM.I found that the antenan reception was rather weak on the Vibe (no stock XM here). I bought an antenna booster from Crutchfield -- helped a little. BUt then again, I listen to XM almost exclusively, so I don't really need decent reception anymore. Hence, I ripped out the booster.

It is plausible that the extra electronics for the XM recpetion and decoding are 'desensing' your FM a bit, hence more static. I have not been into a GM XM radio yet but why do I just know GM would go with the minimum amount of internal shielding.....

The XM tuner is physically mounted in the rear of the vehicle. Behind the plastic on the right side of the rear. It's connected through the 12 pin connection on the back of the stereo.I would more than highly seriously doubt that the XM option is interfering with your FM reception at all. You may have a defective antenna, or perhaps the FM tuner simply isn't as good as other vehicles.
