I'd like to thank everybody that voted. I kind of had a general idea as to what I wanted to get before I even put up the poll, I just wanted to see what evryone else was thinking too. Looks like we all think alike. The tC it is! I'll let you all know when it arrives. Should be before the weekend (august 21).

Scion TC kicks A** for the price and all you get and you wont have to look hard to find aftermarket parts.

even though i want 4 dr, i'd have to say for price and value, the scions are a great buy! especially the TC! i'd also consider the new mazda 3 or 6s.

Yeah, I have been leaning the way of the tC for a few days now. I'm going to take a few more testdrives of other cars, but this is what I feel I will get right now. That is why I put this poll up, to try and maybe dissuade me, to see how badly I wanted it. In case you all missed it, I took a test drive in a tC the other day. I voted for teh Kia Spectra5. I almost purchased a 2003 model when I was shopping for the Vibe, but it wasn't exactly what I wanted. I just read a very favorable article in Car and Drive about the Spectra5...it might surprise you.

I see some people threw up a nissan titan and a chrysler crossfire. Both of these cars are very good at what they are and what they do. Unfortunately, they both start at about 25,000 dollars. My goal is to spend 17,500 or less. If I wanted a pure sports car, the crossfire would be on my list and if I wanted a pickup, the titan would be the only full size one I would get. I am looking for a more practical car than the crossfire, but not as practical or big as the titan. Thanks though!

Have to look at all options.The way I use cars, I don't even think about trade in value. I usually use a car until over 100K miles. I also purchase gap insurance (adds about $6 per month to a loan) to cover me in case the car is totalled.But a good point, none the less.

i used to trade out cars and vehicles every 12 mos - 2 yrs. but i'm at 16 mos on the vibe. i want to have a car long enough that i actually OWN it and not have to worry about making payments!

Check out the last couple months issues of Consumers Reports, they just evaluated alot of these. They were most impressed with the Mazda 3 if I remember correctly.

I have till then to get the vibe cleaned out and remove the sound equipment I recently installed. To give her the benifit of the doubt, she did say I could have it if I really wanted it. Local dealer advertising new 04 Hyndai Sonatas AT/AC etc for $12,995. Good value if you want a 4 dr sedan. 5 yr 60M bumper to bumper and 10 yr 100M power train warranties.

I voted for the Elantra GT. Very well equipped, and very reasonably priced. I looked at those before I bought the Vibe...

I voted for a Mazda 3 hatchback. I think that's the best choice of the lot so far. I saw a new tC in a neighbor's driveway yesterday, and it's a bit funky looking in my opinion, and a bit too much like a Saturn ION. You might be able to find end-of-the-model-year deals on Mazda's within about the next month or so. I think that they look very nice, are well equipped for the money, and have decent power for the size of the car--plus mods should be plentiful. I also considered an Elantra GT before purchasing the Vibe. I thought that it was a good deal until I disovered that the power output was the same as the anemic regular version of the Elantra.

I voted for the Scion tC. It is an awesome car. If it was a little bigger, I would have considered it. The sunroof is awesome but limits the headroom I need (6'2").I'd also suggest the Hyundai Tiburon (I just got one). The GT has a 172-hp 2.7L V6 for under $20K. The base has a 138-hp 2.0L 4-cylinder with variable valve timing and is much cheaper (under $18K). It's an great looking hatchback but rear seat room is tight. If you have the money, get the V6, if not, the base has all the good looks with a lower cost.

Sorry to read about your situation.If you're a Christian but don't currently belong to a local church, now would be a great time to get acquainted with a local congregation. The support of 'church family' and pastor has often been a great comfort to me.Regarding cars, don't overlook the possibility of getting a 'deal' on a 1 or 2 year-old used car, including 'certified' used cars of the makes and models you're considering. There have been many recent threads about how much new cars (Vibes, especially, it seems) depreciate in the first year or two. Granted that used cars also depreciate significantly when you drive them off the lot, but if you can eliminate the first 30%-40% of new-car depreciation, it might also help your financial situation as a student.[Unless she's going to have to buy it for you...]

What about a Santa Fe? That's got vibe versatility and reasonable MPGs (the 2.4L engine gets 20 city 27 hwy) and starts around 18.

I am willing to sacrifice a bit of the vibe's utility to do it too. In fact, I just put down a 1,000 deposit on a tC yesterday! They couldn't find a blue one or a red one though. Said that there were NONE available in the whole North East region. NONE. Not even auto's. So, I am going with my next choice in color, a "flint mica". It is kind of like the "shadow" color on the vibe, only with a metallic paint instead. If all goes well, I should have it by Tuesday.

Glad you got the TC and that is what I would get. The 108 HP engine is poopy IMO! The XB looks cool but does not have the guts behind it and I would want a bit more power over fuel milage any day. I have an idea but why is the Scion not listed at the Toyota website? Again I have thoughts but wondering...

Kind of like the relationship between GM and Saturn. Same parent company, but they don't outwardly want to show strong corporate ties.

TA DA!!!! Sorry I have been away for a while everyone. My stupid-a** computer died on me and had to wait to get it fixed. "Fixed", according to Comp USA, is to make you wait a month for stuff to come in the mail and then after it comes, turns out the computer was bogus to begin with. So, I now have a brand new computer. And...... A BRAND NEW SCION tC!!!!!! To paraphrase a recent catchy commercial that we have all heard, "I'm Lovin' it!". I have a camera on my cell phone and will figure out how to get some pics up for you all soon. TRD Vibe, sorry I missed out on the Toronto meet, I just couldn't get the car in time to come, plus lost my ability to communicate with the computer down. Maybe the next one? Anyway, I'm back everyone.

Perhaps the Volvo V30 when it get available (2006 or 2007 model).This is a nice 3 doors (5 doors also) that look like the old Volvo P1800

Thanks though!I was looking at a crossfire and they are a joke no room, extremely stiff ride and very bland interior. its a pure mercedes hand me down. pending on what your wanting to do to this car I'd go either vibe or civic SI, both great cars. Not to mention the things that can be done to civics.
