Warranty voided by aftermarket speaker install!

I am the new owner of a (used) '03 vibe.I just got back from the nearest pontiac dealer. Long story short, my stereo's amp is blown, but since I've replaced the rear speakers, my warranty is void. According to the service advisor, replacing the factory amp costs over $500.The ironic part is, I had the problem before replacing the speakers - (I thought a nice pair of aftermarket speakers would do the trick). Does this make sense? Do I have any options?

look in the warranty thread where you posted this already. bottom line. don't put that crappy factory amp back in! replace it and upgrade it. good time to do it. besides, it's only 200 watts (50 per door). you can get a nice amp set up for less than $500. and it'd be much better than the GM one too!

Oh, and the factory amp puts out 50w PEAK @ 2 ohms, so 25w peak @ 4 ohm, or 12.5 RMS...i.e. very crappy.Try to fight GM on this...they have to prove your speakers caused the failure. If not, I'll sell you mine for cheap...PM me if you like

Thanks, guys. I'm going to work on GM. I'm trying to save up for grad school (otherwise I'd just go wild with a whole new system.)
