Bloody fingers and a Wheelskin ;-)

After basically tearing up my fingers for 1-2 hours on the leather thread they provided, I finished installing my Wheelskin late yesterday afternoon. Aside from it being a bit off center , I am VERY pleased with the install; I think I did clean job if I do say so myself w/o any stray threads :-). I love the quality, feel, and smell (mmm, leather..). The leather used is pre-treated with a protectant as well, and feels much more supple and "grippy" than the GT"s half-a$$ed leather-wrapped steering wheel. Don't get me wrong, I like it OEM, but have always felt they should have wrapped the whole thing. Anyway, here's my one pic:PS, their blue is a bit darker than I had anticipated, BUT I had planned on re-doing the interior paint with a deeper navy blue anyway. I might actually go with a vinyl dash kit instead.

LOL

Thanks guys...I just finished FIXING the damn thing. I'm just not one to let something sit and fester when it could be right. My crooked cover lasted...27 hours, heh. Oh, and somehow during the initial process, I switched my lacing pattern from front-to-back to back-to-front, and didn't even realize it . So, I basically unravelled the entire thing to fix THAT unexpected problem. Rules of Thumb about Wheelskins for first-timers:- tape your thumbs - and fingers - behind the joint to prevent blistering/cuts on your joints (hurts everytime you bend your fingers. Do NOT eat chips and hot salsa at the same time )- finish it in one sitting; don't take a break like I did and forget your lacing pattern, heh.- line up the wheelskin as perfectly to where you want it as possible, then tape it down in one spot near the end of the skin. This will help keep the holes and pattern lined up perfectly. - Pull the laces towards you when tightening, not down, which could create small air pockets/jumbles.- Make sure the laces are TIGHT, but not jumbled. I'm very (removed) and meticulous about any mod I perform with my own hands, so some of these tiny details might be not even be a concern to others. YMMV I guess pics will follow, not that it's something you haven't seen

Katzskins does some nice work. I believe Hope had some custom Vibe seats done by Katzskins.I'd probably go with them too, but the leather in my new car is right after the breaking in, so it feels great ^^

If, within any time during the next 2 years, someone or something causes a stain and the dealership is unable to remove it, they replace all of the leather interior 100% free this may be a normal part of the warranty, but I thought it sounded awesome ^^
