Great, another cute little toy for potheads to play around with .I wonder if you can get the "infused disks" that are the equivalent of a good cigar?

It's supposed to be some kind of device that blows hot air through a disk that is infused with plant matter so there is no acutual flame or burning of the product to be smoked. I think you have to buy the infused disks from the manufacturer so you can't make your own.

My friend made a bong out of a breathing apparatus that tests lung power that he got from the hospital. That should be childs play for him.

When one smokes, the substance is heated to very high temperatures, sometimes well exceeding 1200ºF. This temperature (which is much hotter than necessary for inhaling the flavor and essence of a plant) burns the material and causes it to be converted into smoke. This smoke can then be inhaled by the smoker in an attempt to obtain some of the benefits of the substance.Although not without some benefits, smoking has substantial dangerous and hazardous side effects including the production of many carcinogenic and harsh byproducts such as smoke and tar. Simply put, smoking is the equivalent of driving a nail into a small piece of wood with a sledgehammer. There is a better solution.Vaporization as used in the air²™VAPIR™DIGITAL AIR™ system utilizes advanced digital microchip technology to heat up the material only to the temperature most effective for gently releasing the pure flavor and active elements. In this optimal condition there is no burning and there is no smoke, only pure vapor.Imagine inhaling the essence of any plant without the smoke. Now you can.The future is here! The air²™ VAPIR™ system utilizes a state-of-the-art convection technology to heat herbal matter. Hot air is blown through a disk implanted with herbal material such as tobacco and other plants commonly used in aromatherapy. The hot air induces the material to release its full flavor along with its active and volatile elements. This easy to inhale vapor cloud is achieved without burning of the material. Digital accuracy helps to insure that material is not wasted or over heated. The flavor and plant aroma are then inhaled through the outlet inhalation valve.Things We Can't Tell You(Disclaimer)Because vaporization technology has yet to be FDA approved, we cannot assert claims that vaporized inhalation is safer or more healthful than smoking. At this time, we do not endorse or encourage the possibility that vaporization may be used to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any ailment or disease. Additionally, our current Vapir ™ Air-2 ™ Digital Air ™ is intended for flavor delivery and aromatherapy. This product is not intended to administer medicinal or illegal products of any kind.

the vaporizer I used to use worked differently. It was, as Drunken said, a hot plate with a glass globe around it. It looked a lot like a lightning ball except it had a metal plate instead of an eletric rod. Some people prefer to smoke without the addition of chemicals from gas lighters, or paper. There are other forms to recieve the purest/densest form of smoke that can be homemade, but I don't think I'll go into detail >_>
