They had this story on Tech Tv about anti-virus. For thos of you that dont know what tech Tv is its a show that talks about everything in the technology department from computers to cars, boats, planes, and the list goes on. I will try to link the video (dont know if it will work since its on my net provider homepage and its over the forum limit so cant post it) and you can check it out. Its free and no yearly charges like other programs. Read the instructions you wont find a download button Video. I copied it and pasted it to my adress bar and it worked but like I said not sure if it will work for you.javascript:popWindow('/components/broadband_showcase.cfm?id=1258','Showcase','resizeable=yes,scrollbars=no,status=no,menubar=no,location=no,width=700,height=500,directories=no,toolbar=no');Link to site.

http://free.grisoft.com/freewe...pl/v5I use AVG as well, very robust and detects viruses like the big-boys (for being Free). P.S. The NEXT button is at the very bottom of the page in the link you have given (may have been hard to find for some).

I always look for the Download button and could not find it. Then I read instructions and everything became clear. I guess thats why they are there!

I've been using AVG now for like 2 years, that program is sweet. It'll run everyday at 2pm. (when I'm in class)

one of the rules of thermodynamics (2nd?) and a rule i go through life with is "there's no such thing as a free lunch". So, is data collection (all my personal info and email address) the only catch? How else will i be paying for this 'lunch'?

My company tested this product in early 2003 when it hit it's first peak as a popular anti-virus.Other than your contact info (which can be falsified...except for the e-mail address of course), the only other info that's collected is your system information - none of which is specific to your machine. I believe all we found that it transmits is the OS and system resource information such as RAM and CPU usage. It does this everytime it runs it's automatic update to get new virus definitions and software upgrades. No biggie, not a severe security risk. Overall a great product...well, for being free anyway. I'll stick to McAfee for servers and Norton for workstations though.
