Interested in Solstice?

So is anyone going to be interested in the Pontiac Solstice when it comes out in Fall 2005. I know some of you got the Vibe for the space and small towing and all that good stuff but is anyone going to look into this car to maybe trade Vibe or replace another car in your garage or buy another car? Since it is going to go for around $20,000, 170 hp Ecotec engine, rear wheel drive. Just wondering.

With any luck the Solstice is going to be an addition to my Vibe. Once I am done paying for the Vibe, I am going to see about picking up a Solstice. My plan all along has been to drive the Vibe for at least long enough to pay off the Solstice. Right now I have a pretty good chance of making that happen.

I've thought about leasing a Solstice as a fun summer car. When I first saw the concept at the Detroit auto show in 2002 I thought "Cool car, but it will probably be over $25,000, IF they make it." I hope GM keeps it at $20,000, that would really boost interest in it.

Just wondering. Not planning on buying one, but my cousin is waiting for someone to total one out so he can swap the 170 hp ECOTEC with his 140 hp cavelier engine. It'll save him some work machining, and he can keep it naturally aspirated like he wants. Wonder if it can be done easily since the Solstice is RWD and the Cav is FWD.

I'm interested to find out what Toyota will be doing as far as a two door after the celica and mr2 are discontinued.

What would sell me on the solstice would be good EPA numbers. If it gets 25-30ish like a miata then I would see no point in getting a little car. If it is comparable to the vibe, then the little car would be extremely fun to drive!

I will be getting a Solstice, barring any unforeen money problems or someone walking up and cutting off my arms! It sounds like they will nail that $20,000 price. In a recent edmunds.com writeup, they quotye a GM rep who says the cars base price will be $19,995, and fully optioned it will come under $25K. There won't be too many options either, but it will come standard with some good stuff such as 18 inch wheels, 4 wheel disc brakes, the full sport suspension, etc. My only decision is whether to get the 170 HP version, or wait for a higher output version which could be out shortly after the base car.

I like the idea of a supercharged Solstice putting out around 225 HP and the same in torque. All that and rear wheel drive will make that one ride you will never forget.
