She got the better end of the deal. For the next week, or so, she is driving my '04 Avalanche. In all fairness the Vibe gets almost twice the mileage. And, I can easily reach across Frosty and touch the other side. Are those reasons good enough? No. Can anyone give me some good ones?

Bet it handles a lot better and well you mentioned the fuel is better. Easier to park to.

It's hard to compare apples & oranges. You just have to appreciate each vehicle for what it is and what it was designed for. I'm definitely NOT a fan of the Avalanche styling, but after riding 600 miles in the back seat of a Chevy Silverado Extended Cab 4x4 last year, I ABSOLUTELY appreciate the extra versatility and passenger capacity of the Avalanche design.Afterthought: You can probably put the whole Vibe inside the Avalanche as a 'spare'.

Yuk....an Avalanche... Sorry but I'm alergic to trucks, especially ones from North America....lol!You will love the Toyota much better IMO.

Since when is bigger better? And how about the fact that if you're driving by yourself, not hauling anything, you don't need a giant truck? So it takes up less space on the road, gets better gas milage, and it has an AC plug in the dash!

the vibe doesn't look like it was drug through a plastic factory, as does the Avalanche.What kind of truck is made of half plastic anyways? Not even toy tonkas are. To each their own. I think you got the better end of the deal.Just my opinion...

Like I said, temporary. Both of our vehicles are Naked, WBH and Monotone. I've had the Avy almost a year and after 30 or so vehicles I feel this is the only one I truly like. It has hauled everything I've asked it to and does it comfortably. Haven't had any trouble with it and would buy another, although this one will be around a long time.

I feel your pain VIBEOK, my wife is driving my Prelude this week racking up tons of miles and I'm stuck with with the miniwagon. Def not my cup o' tea.

Good reasons? I could name a million. I'll refrain from slamming the Avalanche because I'm in a good mood. Let's just say I find it to be the automotive equivalent of an upraised middle finger and leave it at that.

Yes, the vibe is too, but the vibe won't be able to haul anything big, at least as big as the avalanche. If you tend to move around big stuff, but don't want to buy two cars (one to haul and one for everyday use), the avalanche is a good bet.

I was referring more to its generally faux-toughguy, aggressive, in your face attitude more than anything else- although it's terrible safety record, tendency to smash small cars, embarrasingly bad gas mileage, and godawful styling also play a big role. I've noticed that there are a lot of cars and trucks these days that look basically like they're saying "f*ck you, get out of my way, GRRRRR" to everything they pass. Big grilles, brutal styling, inflated size- everything about them just speaks of aggression and faux-macho posturing.

ViciousRR, a fellow 5thGen Prelude owner.. Mine was totalled in an accident 2 weeks ago. I got my Matrix 1 month ago. I miss the lude dearly, but not at the pump. Not only did the gas mileage suck but you had to put in 92 octane. But I don't think I've ever driven a car that was as much fun as my lude... When It was towed away I had put 82k miles on it. It was a nordic mist 1997. My Trix is a 04 XR. Nice car, and with economy and versatility unmatched. Drives nice, decent pickup, and some style to boot. We'll see how good she holds up in the long term.Omar

I was thinking of hauling the Avalanche in the hatch area, or in the bed, but that'll work too
