A friend is moving to B.C. from SK and he's thinking of using his SGI insurance there( keeping th SK plate ) and switch to B.C. plates when he absolutely has to. The ICBC insurance premium on his Honda is 3 times the SGI insuranceSo....How long before he has to switch to B.C. plates?I don't imagine it's possible to claim to be a visitor forever? Thank guys.

I've never registered a vehicle outside SK, so I don't know, but I looked it up on ICBC's website.Quote »You must register, license and insure any vehicle you bring to B.C. within 30 days of its arrival here. (Vehicles intended for commercial use must be registered, licensed and insured immediately.)You have up to 90 days to get your B.C. driver's licence. http://www.icbc.com/Insurance/....html

Has 30 days to switch his insurance......i would be carefull about not doing it. If he is in a collision and they (SK or BC) find out he has exceeded the allowable time they could deny the claim.. Plus if he gets stopped and the officer figures it out (not as hard as you think) he could get a no insurance charge and have the car towed.
