Is the power mirror control & the Interior light/dash light dimmer switch not supposed to be illuminated??

Are the power lock buttons on the doors or the window lock button supposed to light up when the lights are on? Besides the word "Auto" on the power window cluster, nothing else lights up. Please let me know.

It does seem kind of cheap. I'll bet you that decision was made by Toyota! LOLI just think it will take a little getting used to, that's all. Thanks for the info. And by the way, hello from Michigan!

Yea-- I agree---Wait until you hear your horn and you will know where that horn design came from. I think that Pontiac did a very poor job at bringing this car and its features to the USA market. James

When I went to that Vibe clinic in Tarrytown, NY, the designers said a few of the things we dislike (the way the auto-headlights work and the illumination of the window controls and mirrors) were Toyota requirements they weren't allowed to change. Look at most new Toyotas and you will see the exact same features as the Vibe.

I suppose it makes sense, but the fog lights go off when the highbeams go on. Driving the backroads, I'd really like to have both. But then maybe it's good to try to keep people from using highbeams in the fog.

That is the second thing I am going to do to my Vibe, first being the window tint. As far as what they have done bringing the car to the US market, the little things like the lighting I don't mind that much. I am just really glad the did what they did to the body design. Looks a lot cooler than the Matrix. For that, I will take the little quirks about the inside.

How would one go about adding a different (more ummm "american" sounding horn to the vibe), Before my vibe i had a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am Gt and the horn on hat car was awesome, very deep and "american" sounding, now i have the vipe and its a high pitch (Roadrunner) sounding horn, Anyone know if i can buy a horn that sounds like the grandam's and put it in my vibe?

The horn is easy to change. Just go to a junkyard and get one from a wrecked Grand Am and swap it with the one in the Vibe. It's just one bolt and one wire. Read here:

But will the horn of a grand am fit into my vibe?

I don't see why not. Most automotive horns are close in size. Look at the thread I listed in my previous post. You'll see pics of the stock horn, and aftermarker horn and how much room there is.

Well, as NovaResource suggested, I would check into getting one from a salvage yard. That's what I am going to do. The stock Grand Am horn sounds pretty good. I will look into it and update everyone here.

All that parts guy did was look to see if the number were the same. An automotive horn is just 12V and ground.

Scott's absolutely right ... I'd be looking for a different dealer if that's the answer I got from their parts/service deptartment!!I've got some real sweet sounding horns from a '63 Austin-Healey that'll probably be going on my Vibe this weekend. Your parts guy would probably claim that'd never work since the Healey used positive-ground but as Scott said it's just "12V and ground" and I can tell you it doesn't even matter if you use "ground and 12V" they all work the same.If you really liked the GA horn march in there and buy one!

I checked out Auto Zone and Murray's auto parts and the range of price was $12 to $18. They said it was a universal fit and they had different tones. Low tone (125 dB) and high tone (138 dB). They recommended the low tone for a replacement unless I wanted to make someone change their underware.
