What is the best movie you've seen lately?

I just finished watching one of my favorite movies, Basic.I think it may just be my favorite movie of all time (well, i guess starwars and lotr would rank pretty high too..

)I really like movies that have me fooled until the very last minutes of the movie, a lot of the movies these days are pretty predictable, but Basic did a good job at messing with me.So.. what are your favorite movies? Which ones have kept you guessing until the very end?

Rented 'The Singing Detective' starring Robert Downey jr, last night. Very highly recommended. Downey is absolutelt brilliant in it. He does some crooning in it too. The title sounds goofy, but don't let that fool you. It's a great show. Saw F 911 last week (yawn). Moore is a *******. Anyone who watches Michael Moore 'documentaries' for 'enlightenment' is sadly misguided.

I really like Robert Downey Jr...it's really too bad that his personal problems have caused him so much trouble in the past. I think he is very charismatic.Ok, he can save my village too

Ah yes, another poor soul who seems to have mistaken that movie for a documenatry. And I agree that all Republicans should go and see that movie. It would be thoroughly educational to see how completely misguided and essentially retarded the radical left wingers in this country are to have to displace fact, overlook self-contradiction, and rewrite history to fit their agenda since what actually has taken place doesn't fit their world view. The film would be excellent to study the psychosis that Michael Moore has put himself in, but other than for that psychological examination purpose the film has no value and is completely devoid of any sort of realism.Call me by whatever party name that you wish, it matters not to me. I don't particularly associate myself primarily with any sort of party distiction. I have major gripes with both major parties in the US, though for different reasons, respectively. I associate myself with the ideology of conservativism, not a mindless political party platform. I have many libertarian tendencies as well, so I suppose that I am some sort of strange concateneous being. After further self-examination, I have found that I'm not even a neo-conservative as they have chosen to define it. I'm best described as a Reaganite conservative. Just offering that for clarification purposes to be referenced for future "dirty" name throwing. None of this is of the utmost importance to me anyway, as I try to live to serve my God before all others. I just have to always remind myself that it makes no difference who mankind elects into positions of high office because it is He who resides in the highest of all offices who is REALLY in charge, no matter what sort of stupidity we ensnare ourselves with. Good thing that He is self-appointed to His position for a life term, is eternal, has power well beyond anything that the human mind could ever conceive, and has no known plans for retirement .I shall crawl under a large rock now and wait out the oncoming firestorm.

Recent films I enjoyed:The Italian Job (remake) on DVD because of the extra outtakes - I was attracted to it 'cause of the Mini Coopers, but there were enough twists and turns in the plot to make it interesting. Charlize Theron was in it too.Mean Girls Formula, but some really funny stuff. The Emperor's New Groove It's been out quite a while, but it's so unlike most other animation (maybe because of David Spade?) that my wife, son, and I keep 'recycling' lines from the movie, more than a year later.

Lately @ theatres... Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind I'm a big Charlie Kaufman fan (screenwriter).Lately @ home... Spellbound. Not the Hitchcock one; the documentary one about the Scripps-Howard National Spelling Bee. You may not believe it, but it's riveting.

We just saw Borat on Monday. I laughed a lot! Surprisingly there were a lot of seniors in the audience - some of whom left part-way through the movie.

Saw Casino Royale last night. Daniel Craig is awesome as Bond. Loved his swim trunks in the scene near the end where he's coming out of the water. Yum! hehe.

Bond... flick... ever. Can't wait until the next one!On the other hand, watched Superman Returns on DVD a couple of nights ago. I was bored and fell asleep. And this is coming from a comic book geek. Going to watch Batman Begins soon, I have higher hopes for it.

Superman Returns was lame. I just watched it on DVD, myself, and I'm also a superhero geek. You'll like Batman Begins allot better. It's kind of long, though. I think it's the best Batman since the original Michael Keaton version with the Joker. After Micheal Keaton left the movie, they got really stupid.

It's the only movie I've watched recently, so I guess I'd have to say Clerks II which I rented last night. I don't think it was as good as the first, but there was enough sick, twisted crap going on to make it interesting. Especially what went on that landed them all in jail! It had a happy ending though.

Also as posted here, I've heard great things about The Departed, and Casino Royale, both of which I want to see in a theatre.Sometimes the TV screen just doesn't do the film justice.Batman Begins was really good, Superman Returns was just fair.Borat is absolutely horrifyingly funny.

Thought I would resurrect this thread to share something I thought was funny. I have been meaning to see No Country for Old Men ever since it came out and I finally got a chance tonight. I walk into my theater and I swear to you that the average age of people in there was 65. I thought I went in to Bucket List by accident. I actually went back outside and double checked the theater number to be sure. For those of you who don't know, Old Country is a dark thriller with lots of murder, not exactly a "twilight years" movie to go see. Most of the people in the theater probably heard that it was up for an Oscar for best picture and wanted to check it out. Yada yada yada, at the very end of the movie it kind of ends cryptically and one older woman in the theater exclaimed rather loudly and sardonically, "Oh my God!" It ain't no Bucket List lady!

I went to see "p.s. I love you" a few weeks ago. Cried throughout the entire movie. It is a great movie though. There is a long list of movies that I'd like to see that recently came out or are coming out soon. I think I will wait until they go to the dollar theatre though $8.00 vs $1.50... not a hard choice to make when there are so many that I want to see.
