So, since I've been home, I've been catching up on my late night TV...I've found myself obsessively watching two old-school shows: CHiPs and Wings.Now, I'm too young to have remembered CHiPs in the days it actually aired. But turns out TBS reairs episodes of it several times a week at 4 AM. Decided once to watch it, just for kicks, and found it quite entertaining. For the record, before I knew what CHiPs was really about, I always envisioned monkeys on motorcycles whenever I heard the name. I know, it's random and funny. Crazy thing is, I still do think that for some reason. Funny thing is, every epsiode has at least one rollover, and one explosion. And the explosions usually happen in collisions that don't warrant explosions (in real life anyway). Oh well, it makes for good TV!Then there's Wings. Circa 1990s. Another good show, though it only had a 7 season run (though by todays standards, 7 seasons is relatively long for a series). Yeah, a lot of the stuff on the show is really stupid. Lowell is an amazing mechanic, but can say some INCREDIBLY stupid stuff. But, hey, it's a good show IMHO. Nick at Nite actually aired the first episode in the series tonight. Kinda fun to see how it all got started.And finally, I've been seeing some ads for a new show starting on TV Land this week called ALF'(removed) Talk Show. Looks funny. I remember ALF back in the day -- the premise was stupid, but then again, it was better than 3rd Rock From The Sun. Better comedic perspective anyway IMHO. In addition to the premier of his talk show, they'll be airing a few of the original ALF shows.http://www.tvland.com/originals/alf/So the prupose of this thread is, what shows do you remember as favorites, and even better, what old shows did you love that you're seeing be re-run on cable?

I remember watching CHiPs as a kid. I loved it. But watching it today it's really bad. Did you know the black officer in that show is the guy who plays the Klingon Warf in Star Trek The Next Generation?Other shows that I loved back then but are real bad now are The A-Team, The Dukes Of Hazzard and MacGyver.

Knight Rider was my favorite groing up along with Dukes Of Hazzard, but I'm only 26. Luke Duke (Tom Wopat) is from Lodi, WI. Just down the road from me.But M*A*S*H* is the best of all time.

The guy who played Rosco (James Best) was born just west of here, in Corydon, Indiana. I don't have cable so I just stick with my rabbit ears, I miss out on a lot of old TV... I just remembered another... Sanford and Son!

esjones: I like your style. I'm a big sci-fi guy as well. The Twilight Zone (like All in the Family) were groundbreaking television shows. Rod Serling and Norman Lear were/are true geniuses; visionaries way ahead of their time.

Does anyone remember "Tales of the Gold Monkey". It took place in the south pacific (I think?) and the main character had a sea plane and was always rescuing (sp?) people via making medical drop offs of stuff like quininine. If I remember right the main characters of which I dont remember any names, one was a drunk and was the pilot, the other was the mechanic (corky?), and lastly was their dog. I loved the show when I was a kid and used to remake the sea plane out of legos.

Unfortunately, my memory about it is as good as yours. I cannot really remember any details.Knight Rider, CHiPs and Dukes of Hazard were favorites of mine. Funny how they all involved car chases of some sort! I also liked Air Wolf. No car chasis, but a but kicking helicopter was just as good!For most recent shows, X-files is probably one of the only ones I have watched consistently. I am a Star Trek fan and have seen most of the episodes of all the different series. To me they are good, but I am sure plenty of people would disagree there. Sienfeld was the best 1/2 hour sitcom I have seen. I generally do not watch them at all, but I got into that one. Just hilarious!

I am kinda surprised that no one has mentioned the KIng of TV dads: Al Bundy.Married with Children still cracks me up everytime i watch it. My wife just doesn't seem to get it though....

How about the old Howdy Doody Show or The Mickie Mouse Club back in the '50s, The Lone Ranger, Gene Autry, Ozzie and Harriet and Father Knows Best? Most of you are probably too young to remember them, but I gotta say... those were the days.The first tv show I ever saw was Howdy Doody on a little 4' x 5' screen in a gigantic wooden cabinet - about the only tv for miles around. None of us could believe back then what we were seeing. How things have changed since those days, eh?

yes, Father Knows Best, Leave it to Beaver, and Dragnet were all great shows from that era. I watched them all the time.

Did anyone (besides me) ever watch a TV show called "Shannon?"It was about an insurance investigator who had all kinds of neat technology that he used to solve insurance cases. He drove a Buick Special equipped with a mobile phone (WOW! those were VERY rare and expensive in those days, and you had to place calls through a mobile operator) and other neat gizmos.

I didn't realize the Mickey Mouse Club was still around in the '80s. I'll bet that sweetheart that all us guys loved back in the '50s wasn't there. I'm speaking, of course, of Annette! I also enjoyed that segment of the MMC called Spin and Marty, particularly when they were into model airplanes, as I was at the time. Bottom line, though, Annette is why I, along with millions of others, was there. She was My Baby!

A buddy of mine in the sixties had some kind of a trust fund that burped out big $$ once a year. He'd usually blow it on a new car and be broke long before the next installment. One summer he had a brand new Corvette and delivered phone books for gas money!Back to the thread: Rockford Files! Loved that '75 Firebird, and the slightly-sleazy P.I. got to pull at least one "J"-turn in it almost every episode.

I am not positive but wasn't the batmobile built off of the GTO? I know the monkeemobile was, but unsure about batman's ride. Now Grampa munsters car, I mean coffin was way cool!

I am not as (ahem) old as some of the people here so I never really watched a lot of those older shows so I have to make do with what I had. Anyone remember The Commish with Michael Chiklis?I LOVED that show! Used to watch reruns of it on lifetime back in the day....but they've since stopped showing it....Then there's Roseanne. Features one of my favorite canadians, Sarah Chalke and then there's Sara Gilbert -- not canadian, still cute though! And of course meeeee!

My favorites are Cheers, Johhny Carson show, and the Cosby show. I do love Wings though.
