Well I quit smoking since 11pm ESt and it has been around 6 hours since my last ciggerette. I know it is going to be hard at first but I can do it. As a little motivation I am putting the money that I usually spent on buying ciggerettes into my super charger fund. So everyday that I don't smoke 5 dollars goes in the SC fund. Plus what I put away every paycheck. Well wish mew LUCK

Congrats! Cold turkey, or trying the gum/patch/losange products?I quit a couple months ago with the help of some gum, then tried a pack of the losanges (which I preferred) and was totally off of them for a couple weeks, but had a couple bad days and had a REAL strong itch for a smoke, so I held off and stopped by Walgreens and picked up an other box of the losanges. I quit about a year ago for around a month. Had a craving for a smoke, thought to myself, I'll buy a pack for one or two smokes, then give the rest of the pack away to a friend. Don't believe yourself if you have this thought also. If you happen to do start smoking again, please don't give up and try again. My incentive to quit this time was increased because my wife's brother-in-law was diagnosed with cancer in April. We went to his funeral Wednesday this week. I couldn't believe how quickly the cancer took over.

I will be smoke free 2 yrs in Sept. It definately one of the hardest things I ever had to do. Even being quit for almost 2 years I would love to start again, but the cost here in MI for smokes just reminds me why I stopped in the 1st place.I also put money away for every pack I would have bought, and in March I bought my 1st brand new motorcycle. I used to money I saved by not smoking as a down payment, it ended up being a sweet deal.Good luck

Good to hear it. It's a hard habit to kick, been there. Even today, after being smoke free for almost a year, I could light up just like that. I feel better not smoking, but I really tacked on a some pounds because of it.

Good luck dude!! You will have that money in no time. My friend and I figured out how much he spent on cigarettes in a year one time and it was around $1500 a year. So basacially one month of his paychecks went to buy him cancer sticks.

I'm goin on 3.5 months. Wife is preggo, figured why chance it. I used "smoke away" on the advice of a neighbor, it worked. I quit the next day, a couple of urges now and then but they pass as quickly as they occur.

That's great!!! I quit smoking two years ago & I every once in a while, I'll want to have a cigarette, but the feeling soon passes. The first few weeks are the hardest...I remember waking up every day thinking that my day was going to suck because I couldn't have a cigarette, but that feeling goes away. Try using the nicotine patch because that definately takes the edge off. Good luck!!!

When I quit, I tried all the usual means and found them all to be inferior to the Bartkiewicz Program. What is the Bartkiewicz Program you ask? Let me explain how it works. The program uses negative reenforcement to promote healthy living. It work like shock therapy in that every time a certain condition is met pain is applied to the subject. In this instance, the condition that cause the negative reenforcement was me having a cigarette. Basically, I made a deal with my Mr. Bartkiewicz that I would quit and that he could punch me every time I had a smoke. Worked like a charm. I cheated three times and was severely bruised on both shoulders and the solar plexus for my lack of dedication. It was the last one that did the trick. I went from 1.5 packs a day to zero in two days. To this day, I get a little jumpy whenever I smell smoke.
