www.gminsidenews.comLately there has been a lot of complaining that Pontiac is being too slow with getting their GXP line to market. All that complaining that has been going on has caused a lot of frustration towards Pontiac. That influenced me to investigate the GXP line and find out why it is taking so long to the cars to market. Why it is Taking so longIt turns out that Pontiac is very cautious with their GXP line. They are very interested in getting the line-up perfect the first time and not just throwing a few more horsepower under the hood and sticking the GXP logo on it. They look at GXP as a very special line-up that should feature special vehicles and be a significant leap over the nameplate. Because Pontiac wants GXP cars to be significantly different from just a regular Pontiac, they are having to do additional engineering work, which of course takes time.Another issue with the GXP cars taking so long is the fact that Pontiac is currently going through a renaissance. Meaning that Pontiac does not want to waste their time on making a GXP version of some of the vehicles in their current lineup. So ask yourself this; do you want a bunch of cars with a GXP logo, or do you want real performance cars worthy of the GXP nomenclature? Just wait until the new lineup on Pontiacs are in place and then the GXP’s will be in full force. What Cars Are Getting a GXPRight now there is only the Bonneville GXP, but that is eventually going to change. As GMInsidenews has confirmed, the Grand Prix is getting a GXP version in 2005 (refer to “GMI Exclusive: Grand Prix GXP Detailsâ€Â).They are not going to stop with the Grand Prix, the G6 will be getting a GXP version also. Although we do not have any details on the car yet, we do know that there will be a GXP. Stay tuned to GMI for details. The Vibe is also being considered for the GXP treatment. It has NOT been confirmed for production, but it is under thought. I was told that the size of the Vibe is only thing holding them back. There will likely be more GXP models in the future, but that is all that is being considered, or is already confirmed. With the G6 Coupe, G6 convertible, and the Solstice coming in 2005 it is likely that we see GXP versions of those, but that is my guess. I hope that people will be patient with Pontiac, because as one official said, “The Pontiac showroom is going to look a lot different in less than two yearsâ€Â.

The GXP Vibe that was at the meet had the supercharged 1zz in it. I think they oughta build up the 2zz a bit and use that. That would be really nice.

I don't even care bout the motor for that car. I jus want the wheela and the tail lights off of that car. The tail lights are very flush with the rest of the car. And the wheels jus look great.Inder Singh

I got to drive the Bonneville GXP last weekend at the "GM In Motion" test drive. It's a very nice and quick car. The GTO and SSR were also very nice. All are way too much money but drove great.

Witha big NorthStar engine in that bonneville... looks like a load of fun to drive. We have one at the dealership, its white. But right now it sits in the showroom... listed around $50,000...

LOL, there writeup is great! They want to be cautious and do it write. No way GM wants to drop big horsepower in a car, stick a GXP label on it, and call it a special edition. They want to do it "right"Hmm, Bonneville GXP. They took the normal Bonnevile, stuffed the Northstar into the front end driving the front wheels, put on bigger rims and tweaked the suspension, and want to call that doing it right? I applaud the move to the Northstar, but it looks like they basically added power and pushed it out the door to me. Its basically what they are going to do with the Grand Prix too.If they wanted to make the GXP special, they would have used it on only new models, and increased its use that way. First could be a higher output GTO, maybe a GTO with an LS6 for the GXP model. Then the Solstice hits dealers, and they could do a Solstice GXP with the S/C Ecotec. The Bonneville will likely move to the RWD Zeta platform in a couple more years, and a V8 version could be labeled GXP then, and so on. Like I said, I am glad to see them use the V8's in these cars, and they only make them better. But I'm not buying the marketing speak in that article!

The aftermarket ("SEMA") can 'GXP' any car it wants to in about two MONTHS or less from scratch - just read Import Tuner and the like.It used to be called hot rodding in the days before emissions and safety regulations. It must be the hordes of EPA, NHSTA, and GM lawyers and the GM accountants that cause GM to take so long to 'do it right' now!!!

They need to bring out the Vibe GXP! I like the roof and the over hanging spoiler if that's what you want to call it, plus the body kit is awesome.I have some of the same characteristics of the GXP:1. Shadow color looks similar in some lights2. 18" Evo5s3. Lowered4. Red calipersCheck out my cardomain link for lots of new pics.
