Insulate the ac tubing

I know i read somewhere on here that someone insulated thier A/C lines. I was just wondering what they did and parts used.

You can actually just go to any hardware store and ask for a/c line foam. It's like foam that covers your A/C line. You can cut it and everything. It's like insulation foam for piping.Inder Singh

I will have to go check on that I have heard that it may stop or slow the condensation build up on the lines.

i insullated mine, it was easy. I used to different sizes to cover the pipe coming off the condensor going past the engine into the car. I also used plastic ties to hold it on. I noticed a small differences in the coldnest of the air inside the car. If you want pics i can take some.

so, this is supposed to make the AC colder?if so, shoot, i could get that crap for like 10 cents a foot!ok, maybe not that cheap, but pretty damn cheap!

Just got my home AC replaced and I asked the installation guys to give me an extra piece of insultation, which I proceeded to put on my Vibe's AC pipe. It has really made a difference (I checked the AC adjustment in the passenger's foot well and it was correctly set) because during warm days the AC was just not cold enough. With the insulation on, it cools down faster and stays cool, noticeably cooler than before. That's my $0.02 (or $0.032 for the Canucks )
