Vibe Horn - Not very loud

Hi everyone..Has anyone ever changed their horn? The horn that comes with the Vibe is not very loud - almost not as loud as a motorcycle horn or a bicycle. I would like a louder horn. Nothing silly - just a horn like on other cars that you can hear. Thanks!Jeff

The first time I honked my horn my 12 year old son was in the floor laughing so hard! It's not very intimidating during those "road rage" attacks!

I'm interested if there is a change available also!

Ohh.it is normal then! I was wondering if it was only partially working. Sounds like a horn used on a clown car at a circus ;-)I am going to check into getting another - with a more noticeable and masculine HONK. Another should be easy to install. Not sure who at Pontiac decided on this horn - must have been someone with a sense of humor. jeff

Keep in mind, the Vibe is a Toyota underneath. That sound in a horn, from my understanding, is pretty common among Japanese cars.

Yeah, it's icky. A lot of people chose the Hella Supertone horns, but I think just about ANYTHING you put in there will sound better. Try visiting your local PepBoys or Autozone and pick out something else, it'll be a definite improvement.

I called the dealer I bought the Vibe from and they said "for safety reasons" they could not change the horn. I guess they think putting a louder horn in my Vibe that people could actually hear would somehow endanger my life

So it looks like I will have to do it myself or find another auto repair garage to install a real horn. I thought this would simply be taking a nut off, removing the horn, replacing it with another horn and screwing it back on and reattaching a wire. Looks like it may be lots more work than that. Jeff

again.... SEARCHif you do, you will find that raging has put together a fantastic step by step how to on installing/replacing the crappy factory horns (yes, very laughable indeed) with Hella Dual Supertones. i'm sure you can apply this install to just about any horn, not necessarily the hella's. i know i will be using this when i finally get around to it.

I replaced mine but if you want, you could buy my original one (cheap) and install it to have dual horns for a little more volume.

I told him he could be the first member with dual stock horns. He didn't think it was funny.
