Bad clutch, very bad!

Well, I went to the drags last night and ran my car. I am proud to say that I had the slowest time of the night, 23.3 at 77mph. Yeah, my clutch decided to slip like no other last night and I was pretty pissed. Oh well, guess this means that I have to get a raced prepped clutch, flywheel and lsd. What a shame.

Considering the turbo, i'm not surprised. I've been a bit lackluster about the tranny in my GT for a while now.. But..it works, and I haven't got the money to change it all out. Sucks that your tracking wasn't that great.. i'm sure you'll make up for it!

i think the tranny itself is ok, the clutch just sucks, and a lightened flywheel is always a good thing

my stock clutch burnt thru after only 3,000 miles lol but the dealer said that even under extreme driving conditions it shouldn't be that bad so they replaced it

I've decided to just get the RPS clutch right now cuz of money situations. I have a friend who's gonna help me put it in since I don't have a hoist, so it won't cost me a lot. I was thinking about getting the phantomgrip lsd also, but I've been reading some bad things about it on the celica forums. I'll just save up and get a flywheel and the quaife lsd at the same time.

They have to crack the tranny open to install these things, which is a few mor hours of labor to the total bill...I am sorry you tore up your clutch...I have been running my stock one for over a year, and, I have been to the track as well. It is just that lauching has been horrible as I try to dump it w/o bogging too much.....so yeah....I talked to your buddy Matt at you know where , and ordered my clutch there...the RPS Max street clutch. It has a beefy pressure plate rated for 300Lb's of torque, and a street disk...And, I ordered the Fidenza aluminum flywheel, as the chromolly one is still not available yet.

Yeah, I was gonna call Matt today to see if he has one in stock. I hope that he doesn't have just one and you got it. I want to get it in before the meet.Looks like I broke a record.

Well, apparently, the RPS clutch is out of stock, I wonder why. No worries, I bought the ACT instead. It was a little more, but Matt said it is just as good and it comes with the alignment tool and T/O bearing. The installation began today and will be done tomorrow. Will post on how it is.

ok, this now just confirmed why i will be content w/ my GT... those turboed engines are just way too much $$$ for all the parts to take the power.

Yeah, you can't say your done if you buy just a turbo. With all that power, everything else needs to be able to handle it. I knew this though, I've just been waiting on certain things to go bad before I replace them.

Yeah, I feel the same way, but I'm still young, and I've been dreaming of doing this kind of thing for a long time. So, well, I'm doing it.

I've got the new clutch, and I'm getting some sticky tires for two of my oem wheels for autox and dragging. The next race is on July 3rd. I'll let you guys know how I do.

Welp, got the new clutch in. It's great. It grabs like no other and defintely improved over the stock. The clutch is noticably stiffer now, so I guess pretty soon one leg is gonna be bigger than the other. Can't wait to get back to the drags to redeem myself.

Do you realze how lucky you are. Now you have a true reason to purchase a true racing ste-up. Its a blessing in disguise, think about it.
