The AUX button is worthless. There is NO way to interface XM with the 2003/2004 radios that are not equipped with it already. It's a hardware issue with the radios. The XM Direct is for XM-Ready radios only.

They do list it as compatible with the Vibe...and that is the old XMFanStore...hm..If you wanna be the guinea pig...i'd say give it a shot! They have a pretty good return policy if it doesn't work. The PIE site says it will work with Class 2 radios.. But...I can't remember if ours are really Class 2 or not.. It does have the GM12 pin interface, which is correct.. If I had the money, i'd see if that would work with the NAV system.http://www.pie.net/pcgm.htmEdit: Hm...the price is curious.. And they're using the older 903 pioneer tuner, which means it'll only get 8 of the 16 characters on the XM display.Tuner: $150 retail (discontinued)MicroAntenna: $30Splitter: $15IPBus Cable: ~$60That puts the GM / IPBus adapter at $70... Which..actually..might be about right. The fact that they're using the 903FM is probably due to the fact that the 903/910 are discontinued..

Correct me if I'm wrong Jahntassa, but wasn't it determined that the 03/04 radios don't have the firmware necessary to have a 3rd band?

Nono..you're right. But this is a new interface that I haven't seen yet. From the way the documentation reads, it doesn't need a slave device to run. That's why i'm saying, if someone is willing to try...I say go for it. It seems to be a completely different interface from what we've seen. Granted, it's hooked up to a more definitive GM radio than what's in the Vibe, but...i've been surprised before..

What's intriguing about the system first mentioned is that it's a DIRECT interface. Not just audio, but data as well. No extra visible units to do anything with. The Roady is a great unit, and I reccomend it..but if this new direct interface works, that's gonna have to be the new winner!

I ordered my XM Direct today. When I called in, I told them exactly what I was putting it in, and they said no problem, it was certified for the SINGLE CD System ONLY, not the 6-disc, or the NAV -Radio......I'll let you know how it goes...... it should be here tomarrow...btw, I work for a GM dealer, but it still cost me $260/shipped!!! Hope it works right!!

Here's the answer.........NOT the one we wanted though.....XM Direct will NOT work with the 2003 Vibe's. They MUST have the BAND select button, NOT AM/FM & CD/AUX. It would probably work on an '04...if they have the BAND Button.....too bad....I wanted this to work so much.....:-(I will say this though, the XM Direct would be a very SLICK deal for someone who had an XM Ready Radio....I had it connected up in less then 5 minutes...not mounted down, but hooked up electrically!!PLUS, I now have a 10mm socket SOMEWHERE in my dash.....it flew off the end of the driver, and went rattling off into the dash........JUST NOT MY DAY Oh well, I DID use the link someone so kindly added to order a SkyFi 2 and 3 months of service for $97 shipped 2nd day air....not a bad deal....I love having XM. It a shame that GM didn't thing the Vibe would be a good candidate for Sattilite Radio or On*Star until 2005.....

Bummer.I looked at the manuals that have been posted:The '03 owner's manual mentions the "AM/FM" button, while the '04 and '05 manuals refer to the "BAND" button. So maybe it's just the '03 that's outta luck? Someone (I think Jahntassa) mentioned XM wasn't an option in the '03, it became available in 04. Makes sense. It might be possible to get an '04 or '05 single-CD unit off Ebay. They seem to come up fairly frequently, and are cheap.(I know you got the SkyFi, though)

yeah, but the '03 won't accept a '04/'05 Radio. It's a differnet bus plug. I called about that too....so the '03's are the ones that have to make do with an outboard XM....

The 04' radio should work in an 03'. I think. I know it might be slightly different hardware, but all the connections should be the same. The '05, however, i'm not sure about. But yes, there is a major difference between 03' and the rest, because '04 is the first year they offered OnStar, as well as XM, which means the radios had to be Class II compatible. At least in their aux port. '03 however, had neither option.

I have an '04 6CD in my '05 - plugged right in, no probs. Also, I believe all GM RDS radios are Class II, which would include the '03. Just not XM-ready.

Not sure if you resolved this yet, but yes it works with the BAND button. Here is the link for the product you need. http://www.myradiostore.us/bun....htmlHope you already have it, but if not, here it is. Also, for those of you with 2003 Vibe's with the single disc CD and the BAND button, it should work for you as well.
