Clutch pedal noise (popping/knocking)

Hi all...Ok, so we've had the pedal squeak, the clutch noise at idle when the pedal is pressed... Now over the past week I've began to notice a faint pop/knock sound and a noticable release of tension when pressing on the pedal no matter if the car is moving or not. This happens at about the last 1/4 of the pedal's movement which is usually further than I go in normal shifting. The feeling is almost like the pedal has even resistance to pressing on it till that point then it pops and then seems to move a little easier to the floor.Anyone have this? Any suggestions other than taking it in to try to fix it? I really don't like taking this car in for things because they never seem to know what they're doing. Any help would be appreciated.Dave

I'm not well versed in the mechanical side...but I'm under the impression the Vibe has a hydraulic clutch...and that kinda behaviour sounds like something's wrong with the hydraulics (fluid low?).Sadly, I believe when a hydraulic clutch goes, there's no way to adjust it other than putting in a new one.. Someone can confirm/deny this though, as I'm not 100% sure.

ARGH!I can't find posts when I need em.. anyway, I know this probably means nothing to anyone but I read in a post where manually pushing the clutch actuator thing which is mounted on the transmission helped solve a few people's squeaks. I tried this and found that when it's pressed in (actually moved to the left), it moves up and down almost like it's free in the socket. Anywho. I assume this helps grease the fittings inside the rubber boot thing. This actually has eliminated my issue for now and the clutch somehow seems better, I dunno. Could this be a fitting that should be greased up more than it is? I think someone said something before about having their clutch fork greased. I'm assuming this is the part I'm talking about as well.Dave

The info on fixing the clutch noises was located on everythingcelica.com and the direct link is... http://www.everythingcelica.co...57282Apparently odd noises are quite common but easily remedied.Dave
