I just saw "Day After Tomorrow" and "Troy" this weekend. I liked Day After Tomorrow, it wasn't like all the other cheesy apoclypse movies. This movie centered mostly on the special effects and the survival aspect instead of the love story like some. (Armageddon, which I hated) You really have to suspend your disbelief quite a bit because a lot of this takes place over a very short period of time. Most of what I saw would probably happen, but probably not in the time frame that they suggest. I rate it .Troy IMO was a fantastic movie. I am only familiar with the basics of this story, Achilles, the trojan horse, Hellen, that sort of stuff. It seemed like it was a fairly accurate account, for Hollywood standards anyway. Very good battle scenes on par with Braveheart. Brad Pitt half naked (for the ladies) and a love story that is not sappy. If you want a good action flick with a solid story line go see this movie, if you want an accurate movie on the war between Greece and Troy watch the History Channel. I rate it .

I saw "Day After Tomorrow" last week. Most of the weather phenomenon that occurs is scientifically impossible. Hail must be round, for example. I went with 2 other engineers, and we were the biggest nerds through the whole show, laughing our heads off at how scientifically inaccurate it was. But, it is a fantasy, so we accepted it as entertaining. I proclaim that is was the best $11 I ever spent, for the humour value!I also saw Harry Potter 3, which I thought was "good" despite the fact I didn't pay any attention during #1, and didn't see #2 or read the books. The HP fanatics I was with (the aforementioned engineers) were disappointed that so much was cut out, blah blah blah. Also saw "Stepford Wives" last night, which was a hoot. I had just finished watching Bette Midler on Biography a few hours before, and her performance is amazing. I had no idea that was Nicole Kidman! A great laugh, but a little disturbing to see with less than 3 months to my own wedding.

i saw "troy" friday night. eh, it was ok. and pitt's acting was... so so. his side view of his (removed) was not so bad. j/k you don't really see much. but orlando (i felt) really sucked up the screen. i almost wanted to reach into the movie and slap him! the guy who played hector did a phenomenol job! i believe he played john in the passion. the battle scenes were a cross b/w braveheart and LOR.. sean bean was the king of ithaca and bloom of course was paris. and he shoots arrows at the end- how surprising! it's BASED off Homer's Odyssey and not completely accurate, altho they did have the major events in there. very long movie so if you don't have anything better to do for a good 3 hrs and $8.75 burning a hole in your pocket, then don't go. acting: (not all was terrible)action: (great action!)story: (it's based off homer. you can't go wrong w/ a classic regarding storyline!)romance: (awww... the idea of a war over love how sweet for once)hot (removed) scenes: (eh, not so much. just a couple scenes about pitt's slave and paris and helen)overall score:

I too saw "Day after Tomorrow". As a movie, it was very predictable. The acting was second rate, but the special effects really carry the movie. I'd give it 3 out of 5.I also saw Shrek 2. It was ok. I'm not sure where everybody is coming from when they say that it was better than the first. I'd give it 3.5 out of 5.
