Interior painting question...

My Vibe is fusion with the dark interior and was entertaining the idea of doing some paint to the interior. The colour scheme of my car is Fusion, Gunmetal and chrome. What do you all think of painting the molding around the radio, and on the door panels for the windows switches in fusion? Or leave it as is? And any special way to paint the pieces? I would probably buy one little molding and paint it and see how it looks before even thinking of the rest.

I'd say leave it...it goes with your scheme perfectly in stock trim! i think when you start painting your trim, it cheapens the look of the car, IMHO. You could find REALLy subtle ways to carry over the fusion, like, well, i don't know right off hand...but you could do it...somehow...maybe a fusion kleenex box? How about a steering wheel emblem overlay? that would be start...

It's your car. If you want the panels painted, then go for it. It's not like the rest of your car is still stock.Check out a PT Cruiser dash and glove-box -- they paint them to match the exterior color on most of the ones I've seen.

well i think the fusion would be too much of the same color. i like the gun metal color w/ your color scheme. if anything, i'd say some nice seat covers... w/ dark grey and orange...

I've seen the paint job in the pics. It was a quality job. It's just a few pieces, though. To me, when a factory has painted parts in a car, there are accent pieces througout that help the continuity. These are pieces which really couldn't be painted and altered or are a permament stock piece. To me, it's like, "Let's see what I can take out and get painted." Not trying to disrespect, everyone has their own tastes...

no, i'm just giving you a hard time. but i think he's just talking about the accent pieces, not the entire interior! but the stock colors go well w/ his paint scheme, so i'd leave it as is. would add something else for flair like pedals, door sills, matching shift knob (altho i think he has that already).. etc.

those are good suggestions. I personally really like the look of the celica pedals. An all siver pedal would look great with some door sills.

Yours is what got me on the idea Hope lol. I'll maybe buy one piece and see how it looks. But I do want better peddels and rails would be nice to. I would never smooth and paint the whole dash. Thats just ugly on some cars.

Yeah I'd let the body shop here do the painting. Hmmmm... but the mirrors now that would look nice. All fusion or maybe a split like that one guy here had with silver and black?

Probably will leave them black for a long while anyway.but chrome? that would be bright. why not red to match your interior.

well, it'd go w/ my chrome, red, graphite theme. red would look bad unless i painted the vibe 2 tone like i was telling you about... but that's not gonna happen. and if i had some nice chrome bling bling rims... and a custom chrome grill, it'd tie in quite nicely.

I can see that and a Chrome Windshield Banner reading "Vibe" from Grafxwerks with chrome overlays.well I am not into graphics and only have Ontario Tuner Org. sticker on my two back windows which is really small. Driving Hope's Vibe though awsome with the Gen Vibe banner across the top of the window, I could not see well past it at street lights and such.

that's cause you're tall. i have no probs seeing around it. in fact, it helps block the sun out.
