Lowering effecting handling

I have 18's 235 wide any chance that lowering my car will cause the turn circle on my car to get larger since the wheels might start to rub against the wheel well?

As long as the wheel offset and tire OD are near stock, you should be fine. I've got 275/40 x 17"s on 10" wide wheels, and although they scuffed a bit on bumps with Tein S 2" lowering springs, they didn't rub at all at full lock.

Damn 275 wide on a vibe !? thats insane, where did you get 17x 10 rims and how much did they cost? same question for the tires

There's a couple of old posts on the subject, under Project Big Boots, but they are a set of aftermarket Corvette wheels and tires I bought used a number of years ago for my '70 Camaro project car, and I thought I'd better use them up before they died of old age. I had to make up adapter plates to change the bolt pattern to the Chev 4-3/4" B.C. but my measurements showed they would fit and clear everything, and I've put over 20,000 km on them with no problems at all. The tires are Firestone Firehawk SZs:thumbup:

Got any pics? I'd say the widest I would go is around 255 just cause I wouldn't want the tires sticking too far out the wheel well

Just use the search function under the topic "project big boots". There are a number of pics posted. You'll soon notice that madbill has lots of crazy ideas too. I think he even once rigged up this test to prove that the front strut bar that goes on top of the struts as an aftermarket piece was not worth buying because it didn't actully do anything. You can even look up a number of topics that madbill started and see what elses bill's been up to.Sorry to get off topic

No, they are the 275/40 front and rear. If I had my choice though, I would have gone with 245/40s, as the diameter is closer to stock and there would be enough clearance to use the full 2" drop springs.If I wear the fronts out first, I might go with 245s and leave the 275s on the rear. (Since I don't have ABS, this wouldn't set a code but would result in slightly less brake force at the rear.)

Lol he's talking about me Bill and they aren't anymore they are both 235 I got new tires for the front I was too poor to buy 4 tires at the same time so I bought 2 and it just looks bad having larger front tires that rear lol

Oops!(BTW, Smokin', your tires are the exact size and model I was going to buy before I decided to use my Chev wheels!)

awesome they are great tire even when you try to take 90 degree turns at 72mph lol but that's another story

If you had different size tires on front and rear, it would trigger an ABS code?

Most systems will assume there's a defective wheel speed sensor(s), because the rears are showing different RPM than the fronts. Guess it depends on how much the diameters differ...

It really shouldn't be all that different unless I stomped on the brakes since the rear wheels weren't taller, they were just a bit wider (10 mm)
